For the ninth consecutive year, the renowned Swiss watchmaker joined forces with Biennale di Venezia, the organizer of the Venice International Film Festival. For the jubilee 70th Biennale to be held from August 28 to September 7, 2013, Jaeger-LeCoultre has prepared the special edition of its famous Reverso watch line which will be presented to the winners of the Best Film (Leone d’Oro, the Golden Lion Award), the Best Actress and the Best Actor of the year (Coppa Volpi Awards).
This is a special year both for the Biennale di Venezia, as well as for the Swiss watchmaker. While one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world celebrates its 70th birthday, Jaeger-LeCoultre marks the 180th anniversary. For the special occasion, it created the jubilee collection that will be presented at the festival. Among models from the collection, there is a new Reverso, dedicated to the Biennale, featuring a handcrafted lacquered engraving of a lion, the symbol of Venice, presented together with the inscription “70. Mostra”.
Since 2007, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been honoring the personalities who brought great innovation to contemporary cinema, by presenting them to the prestigious “Glory to the Filmmaker Award”. This year, the award will go to Ettore Scola, the master of Italian cinema who is expecting the world premiere of his new film Che strano chiamarsi Federico!, a tribute to Federico Fellini. Before Scola, the prize went to Takeshi Kitano in 2007, Agnès Varda and Abbas Kirostami in 2008, Sylvester Stallone in 2009, to an Indian film director Mani Ratnam in 2010, Al Pacino in 2011 and Spike Lee in 2012.
For the third year in a row, Jaeger-LeCoultre will use the exclusivity of the event to support the Emergency association and its charitable causes. This year, the renowned watchmaker will organize a dinner on August 29, with special guests to benefit the project “Jaeger-LeCoultre for Emergency, It’s time to help Sierra Leone”.
