Rolex did a great job on the opening day of the Basel watch show, presenting five new Oyster Perpetual watches, with latest innovative features and amazing designer’s solutions. Timepieces from four renowned Rolex collections are designed to bring the elegance and luxury in every aspect of men’s and women’s life, both private and professional.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona
Extreme reliability has characterized all Rolex Oyster timepieces, ever since the first waterproof wristwatch, under the name Oyster, was born back in 1926. Rolex watches got the new quality – the highest precision, in 1931, with the first Perpetual rotor self- winding mechanism.
Oyster Perpetual line, which caries out this great tradition and ever-lasting quality, is expanded with the new Oyster Perpetual Explorer II, the Yacht-Master II, the Cosmograph Daytona, the Datejust Special edition and the new Lady-Datejust. All of these certified chronometers are upgraded and redesigned version of Rolex’s flagship products.
Discover the World of Adventures
The first example of reinventing tradition comes with the new Oyster Perpetual Explorer II, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of its launch, in 1971. This line of watches, famous by its robustness, precision and reliability, opened the new world of possibilities for professional explorers, even in the most extreme environments.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II
The new Explorer II, proudly presented at Baselworld 2011, has an enlarged, 42 mm stainless steal case and the new Rolex innovation – Calibre 3187 automatic movement. Thanks to brand’s latest-patented technologies, the PARAFLEX shock absorbers and the non-magnetic PARACHROM hairspring, this mechanism is absolutely reliable and resistant to mechanical shocks.
With this watch, Rolex made an aesthetic come-back to the origins, preserving the highly readable dial, the 24-hour hand and the fixed graduated bezel. The “jumping” hour hand can be set independently, ensuring a GMT function (second time zone), in relation with the 24-hour hand and bezel.
Regatta with the Hi-Technology
The new Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II is a revolutionary, hi-tech, regatta chronograph, which features another in-house innovation – the programmable countdown with a mechanical memory. The key element of this stunning watch is Cerachrom, a high-tech, scratch and corrosion proof, non-fading ceramic bezel.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht Master II
The Ring Command bezel starts and locks the countdown programming, by the permanent interaction with the mechanism. This very useful tool provides the best synchronization between the chronograph and the official race countdown.
This watch is powered by the Rolex 4160 calibre automatic movement, which incorporates a Parachrom hairspring, for the highest shock-resistance and reliability. The countdown is conducted by a column wheel and a vertical clutch.
The new Yacht-Master II for men is the first Oyster Professional timepiece, which comes in Everose Rolesor – an exclusive combination of the 904L steel superalloy and Everose gold (an exclusive 18 ct pink gold alloy, patented by Rolex).
Rolex on the Open Road
New version of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona men’s watch evokes memories on the legendary model from 1965. It also features innovative Cerachrom bezel, exclusively presented in monobloc black to associate on the iconic car-racing watch.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona
Named after the most famous motor racing circuit in the USA, this famous chronograph is closely connected to the automobile sport. It counts time with the 1/8th of a second accuracy and provides measuring of speed, by the tachymetric scale on the bezel.
This high-precision chronograph is powered by the Calibre 4130 automatic movement, which is equipped with a Parachrom hairspring, providing a great durability and resistant to shocks.
Along with superb accuracy, legibility and reliability, new Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is a real piece of art, a unique timepiece that combines sport, elegance and luxury. Its 40 mm Oyster case is completely made of 18 ct EVEROSE gold, matching either the chocolate brown or ivory dial, as well as the black alligator strap.
Elegance and Diamonds
Rolex also presented two feminine watch editions, even more glamorous than earlier models. The new Oyster Perpetual Datejust Special Edition has the 34 mm case, first time made of 18 ct EVEROSE gold and the stunning bezel, set with 12 brilliants, for a seductive shimmering effect. Earlier models in this remarkable edition are produced of white and yellow gold.
Two variations of a stylish GOLDUST DREAM dial feature the combination of white or black mother-of-pearl and gold dust. Each dial, with a large gem-set numeral at 6 o’clock, is a unique, adorable piece of art.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Special Edition
These timepieces are moved by the Rolex Calibre 2235 automatic movements, that guaranty 48 hours of power-reserve and meet the highest brand’s standards of accuracy and reliability.
Finally, fifth member of the superb Oyster line, presented by Rolex at Baselworld 2011, is another beauty for ladies with a sophisticated style. The new Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust watch has a petit 26 mm case, made of yellow or white ROLESOR, which celebrates the timeless feminine beauty.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust
The most striking part of this amazing timepiece is the sparkling bezel, entirely coated with 46 brilliant-cut diamonds. For those who needs even more luxury, Rolex offered 10 diamond hour indexes on the watch dial.
Stunning edition. I’m in love with this Daytona. I like to ride, never to fast, but always enjoy the filing of the open road. I just can imagine how much extra pleasure and power gives this Rolex watch. Ladies’ line is also amazing.
O Lord, would you buy me a Oyster Perpetual
You have a good taste Fred. This Daytona is so powerful that I just can’t resist it. I’m definitely going to buy it, despite my faithful commitment to the Datajust collection.
It looks that Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is my new favorite watch!
Maybe Daytona is the most beautiful model, but speaking about quality and advanced complications, Explorer II is much higher than any other Rolex from this edition. Good work!
I think that Rolex made the biggest impact at this year show in Basel. They didn’t try to produce unusable miracles, just for a press and glory. Rolex creates watches for its faithful costumers who expect something fresh, but not completely different.
I can not agree with you Fernando. Except extra luxury, more gold and diamonds, I don’t see a big step forward. Ok, I mast admit that Rolex is a master of reproductions, but without some new mechanisms, for instance, they can’t be the best.
Well Meredith, I cannot agree with you either. I don’t really no what do you expect. Maybe some new miracle that cannot be used in real life, like that Tag’s Microtimer, which has incredible accuracy but requires impossibly fast man’s reaction. Or that Hublot with the 10,000 feet water-resistance… On the contrary, All features that Rolex offered are useful. Not to mention beautiful design and perfect style.
Well guys, it’s so normal that you have different tastes, but it’s a fact that Rolex produces stunning watches. Some might say this isn’t enough, comparing Rolex with other brands and someone else could think that Rolex is the best possible watchmaker, but after all, when you look at the Daytona, for instance, you get the filling of beauty, artistry and style. Maybe isn’t yours, but it’s certainly a good style.
I love the oyster editions of Rolex. Beautiful color that emminates from the face and the detail imprinted on the bezel. A wonderful and unique design! Well done Rolex as always!
