Well known watch design company, Obaku, is going to launch the thinnest sport timepiece in the world, at the upcoming watch show in Basel. Thousands of visitors at the Baselworld 2011, will have a chance to see the world premiere of revolutionary watch, called Obaku V140G.
Two Danish designers, Christian Mikkelsen and Lau Liengaard Ruge, changed the main course in sports watch industry, by producing Obaku V140G watches, with extra slim cases and highest simplicity in design. They just followed up brand’s philosophy, based on common principles of Zen Buddhism and Northern European cultures, such as balance, harmony, simplicity and functionality.
Despite the trend in industry, which crafts robust and multifunctional sport timepieces, new Obaku V140G watch is a product of brand’s famous clean design and perfect sense for harmony in sport. Obaku didn’t announce how slim the V140G actually is. However, we can see from the picture that watchmakers made the remarkable job.
Designer Watch
Obaku crafted unique designer watch, which has preserved characteristics of sport timepieces. Its bezel is modern and comes with reduced size, in order to highlight the large watch face. Sporty bezel has carved indexes and four Arabic numerals and mach the wonderful black shade of watch bracelet.
Striking dial, with the black texture, is a real masterpiece of simplicity and the best example of brand’s watchmaking philosophy. It is extremely clean and features noting more than a small round date window and undersized luminous indices, alongside the outer rim. Almost visible numerals, that sign every fifth minute and tiny watch hands, just verify the determined designer’s direction to the functional minimalism.
So far, Obaku didn’t mansion other details about the V140G watch – about its material, weight, size and mechanism. Anyway, it will be interesting to see, how will market react on this radical change in sports watch’s concept, after its release at Baselworld 2011.
wow!
soon we will see how thin it is
No more that 4 mm, that is curtain. But I just can’t figure out why is it a sport watch. It looks great, but has no advanced functions that I use during sport activities. Lightness and thinness simply are not enough.
