Once again, IWC Schaffhausen will be sponsoring the British Film Institute’s London Film Festival (BFI) which is going to be held this month. To commemorate this partnership, the Swiss manufacturer has created two Special Editions: a Portugieser Hand-Wound Eight Days in stainless steel and a unique Portugieser Annual Calendar in platinum.

Both models will be auctioned at the BFI’s unique fundraising gala LUMINOUS of which IWC is the headline sponsor. All proceeds from the auction, to be held at Guildhall on October 6, will go towards the BFI National Archive – one of the ‘greatest and most significant heritage collections in the world and the UK’s National Collection of film and TV.

It is a unique piece that is presented in a platinum case which measures 43mm in diameter and 15.3mm in thickness.  Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a silver-plated dial with a sunburst pattern which comprises a power reserve display at the 3 o’clock position, a small seconds counter at the 9 o’clock position and month/date/day displays which are located at the top of the dial. The hands and the indexes are blued, so the final result is a cold but appealing look of the dial which  pops in the flesh with its natural light.
