To mark the opening of its third Italian boutique, after Rome and Venice, in the heart of Milan’s luxury shopping area, IWC Schaffhausen introduced the new Portugieser Double Chronograph Edition “Milano” (ref. IW371215). This exclusive Portugieser is produced in the limited quantity of just 100 pieces.
The newest member of the IWC’s family of watches is the heir of the very successful model that was introduced for the last time in 2006 and has acquired numerous admirers. The Edition “Milano” comes with the distinctive third button for the rattrapante mechanism which is placed at the 10 o’clock position on its case.
The Portugieser Double Chronograph Edition “Milano” is housed in the 18-karat rose gold case which measures 41mm in diameter and 12.50mm in thickness. The elegant case is shielded with a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The water resistance is assured down to 30 meters (about 100 feet).
The beating heart of the watch is the in-house manufactured caliber 76240 mechanical double-chronograph movement that offers 48 hours of power reserve. The hand-wound movement is built on 31 jewels and has the oscillating rate of 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz).
Underneath the front glass lies a blue dial with tachymetric and telemetric scales. The latter is used to measure the distance of an event (lightning, for instance) based on the time interval from when the lightning is seen to when the sound is heard. Its beautiful blue dial features matching red gold indexes, markings and hands.
From the rear, there is the inscription of the limited edition in a form “01/100” together with the incision that evokes the “Biscione”, the grass snake, of the Milanese Visconti family, which is the symbol and emblem of the city of Milan.
IWC Portugieser Double Chronograph Edition “Milano” is attached to an elegant, black alligator leather strap, ending with a rose gold pin buckle. The watch will be available exclusively in IWC’s new boutique at the Via Montenapoleone 1 store, in Milan’s most fashionable shopping street. The retail price is Euro 21,500 (approximately $24,000).
IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the opening of its third Italian boutique in the presence of some of the most important representatives of the Italian business world. Hannes Pantli, a Board Member of IWC, Beppe Ambrosini, the Brand Manager IWC Italy, a television host and actress Alessia Marcuzzi and an actor and IWC brand Ambassador Pierfrancesco Favino cut the ribbon of the newest IWC boutique.
