I have already introduced you the new Ingenieur Automatic, and now it is time for the new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer Watch. The Schaffhausen-based watch manufacturer will be the Official Engineering Partner of the MERCEDESAMG PETRONAS Formula One Works Team for the next three years and to mark this cooperation, IWC is launching the Ingenieur Chronograph Racer timepiece with a special engraving of Formula One racing car on the case-back.
At the SIHH 2013 watch fair in Geneva, IWC will introduce the entirely renewed and remodeled Ingenieur Collection which will be completely focused on its partnership with the Mercedes-Benz team. Most of the materials, such as carbon fiber, titanium and ceramic, which are used for new Ingenieur timepieces are also used in motorsport industry.

The new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer stays true to the IWC look. Housed in a stainless steel case with its either slate-colored or silver-plated dial with blue or silver hands and indices, this watch is perfect for all men with style.
The watch is equipped with the in-house manufactured Caliber 89361 automatic flyback chronograph movement. The same movement we have already seen in Big Ingenieur Chronograph, as well as in the Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Watch Edition “Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012”.

The movement boasts a flyback function for instant stop, reset and start measuring time again. The 38 jewels movement oscillates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and delivers full 68 hours of power reserve when fully charged.
Its stainless steel case measures 45.5mm in diameter and 15.5mm in thickness. The case incorporates a bezel inscribed with a tachymeter scale which helps the wearer to calculate the speed of a car. For example, if the calculated distance of 1,000 meters is covered in 30 seconds, the tachymeter scale will show 120. Thus, the vehicle’s speed over the kilometer is 120 km/h.

The watch dial comprises two sub-dials. The upper one, situated at the 12 o’clock position combines the hour and minute chronograph counters in a single totalizer, whereas on the opposite side, at the 6 o’clock position, there is a 60 seconds counter which incorporates a small date display.
The case of the new Ingineur is coated on both sides by the antireflective sapphire crystals and provides water resistance up to 120 meters (approximately 400 feet).

The new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer will be available in four variants. Two Racer models come attached to black rubber straps with textile inlays, ending with steel pin buckles and there is a choice between a silver dial or a slate-colored one (their referent numbers are IW378509 and IW378507). IWC offers two more models accompanied with stainless steel bracelets with fine-adjustment clasps. There is also a choice between two dial options: silver and slate-colored (their referent numbers are IW378510 and IW378508).
More information about new Ingenieur Racer will be available this January when the SIHH 2013 opens its doors.
