This year, IWC launched a new Special Edition Ingenieur watch that will be available exclusively in the UK at Watch Gallery boutiques in London including Selfridges and Westfield. This vintage-styled timepiece is produced in a limited quantity of only 500 pieces.
This year’s special edition model pays tribute to the first Ingenieur timepiece with automatic movement from 1995. This iconic model was the first watch to feature the IWC Automatic movement developed by Albert Pellaton. Thanks to its pawl-winding system and the spring-mounted rotor, it has remained a benchmark for watch technology at the highest level.
Ideally Equipped for the Exacting Demands of Present-day Life
The new Ingenieur Automatic is housed in a stainless steel case and is powered with the caliber 80111 movement which features the Pellaton winding system and integrated shock absorber. The rugged and high-precision mechanism is visible through a transparent sapphire glass case back.
The 28 jewels movement beats at the rapid frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and preserves more than sufficient 44 hours of power reserve when fully charged.
Its round, masculine case measures 42.5 mm in diameter and incorporates a narrow bezel and a screw-in crown. The case construction provides 120 meters (approximately 400 feet) of water resistance which makes this watch quite suitable for showering, swimming or snorkeling in shallow water.
The newest member of the IWC Ingenieur family of watches boasts one of the most stylish Ingenieur dials ever. Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a perfectly-legible and uncluttered dial with the point-stroke indices and dauphine-style hands. The hour and minute hands are filled with luminous material for the best visibility under low light conditions. Its gorgeous, brown dial also features a black-on-white date window which is situated at the 3 o’clock position.
This year’s Ingenieur model is a collector’s rarity and a special treat for all watch aficionados. The combination of stainless steel and brown dial surface and matching alligator leather strap make this watch to be a must have piece.
As I already mentioned, the new special edition Ingenieur is available exclusively in the UK at Watch Gallery boutiques. The retail price is £5,950 ($9,600).
