In the year of the Ingenieur watches, IWC launched several new models. One of them is the Ingenieur Automatic AMG Black Series Ceramic that features high-gloss surfaces, piano lacquer-like finishes, as well as some silky matte surfaces. Just like its namesake, the AMG Mercedes, the new Ingenieur boasts the same outstanding features, such as exclusiveness and high performance, combined with practicality, accuracy, reliability and the first-class quality.

The new Ingenieur Automatic AMG Black Series Ceramic reflects sportier design codes than most of the members of the Ingenieur Family.

This newcomer is housed in a black zirconium ceramic case which is on the larger end of the scale for IWC with the diameter of 46mm. The bezel, the case back ring, the crown, as well as its protective shoulders are also crafted from black zirconium oxide. This is inspired by the AMG’s high-performance ceramic disc brakes.

The eye-catching screws on the bezel keep the front sapphire glass, case and sapphire glass case back and they undoubtedly refer to the technical design cues of Gérald Genta’s iconic Ingenieur SL. The case is shielded on both sides with flat antireflective sapphire glasses and constructed to resist water pressure up to 120 meters (approximately 400 feet).

AMG Black Series Ceramic watch is powered with the in-house manufactured caliber 80110 mechanical movement with Pellaton automatic winding system. The mechanism built on 28 jewels can store the energy which will keep the watch ticking for at least 44 hours.

The IWC-made movement has an integrated shock-absorption system and belongs to the group of the most rugged IWC movements. A see-through sapphire glass case back reveals a high-performance mechanism with a blackened rotor.

IWC offered two versions of Ingenieur Automatic AMG Black Series Ceramic. The first one with the referent number IW322503 features a black dial surface and is accessorized with a black rubber strap with a stamped calfskin inlay, while the second model with the reference IW322504 matches a brown dial and comes with a rubber strap, featuring a brown alligator leather inlay.

The dial comprises Arabic numerals 6 and 12, and indices. The hour and minute hands are partly skeletonized and partly filled with luminous material. There is also a small date display set at the 3 o’clock position. Also, the used font is modern and it reinforces the contemporary persona of the timepiece.
