The Swiss watchmaker, Hublot, has presented its latest piece from the Classic Fusion series which is dedicated to Chelsea soccer club which it sponsors. The watch features an in-house chronograph movement which is set in a titanium housing. Naturally, the dial color of the piece is the same one as the jerseys of the club from London, while the Chelsea crest motif is repeated on both front and back of the timekeeper. Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Chelsea is made in the restricted series of 200 copies.
Hublot has a heavy involvement with soccer. The brand has been official timekeeper of both FIFA (which is the world’s soccer association) and UEFA (the European one) since 2008. Apart from being trusted with timekeeping in world cups and the European champions in the meantime, the watchmaker sponsors some of the greatest legends of the sport (like the Argentinean Diego Armando Maradona), as well as major clubs in the top European leagues (we have recently covered Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Juventus piece which came out at the turn of the year.
As far as partnership with Chelsea is concerned, it started at the start of the 2015/16 season. The connection is clearly visible on the English club’s home games, since Hublot provides LED score screens and has several clocks scattered around the Stamford Bridge stadium, the home ground of the club which can fit as much as 42,000 fans.
Now, the watchmaker is finally presenting a special watch that is dedicated to the team which is also known for its nickname Blues, because of the color of its jerseys. The same shade dominates the piece which has its dial and part of the strap in blue color. Additionally, there are also lion motifs from the Blues crest which can be seen as an appliqué on the top of the dial, as well imprinted on the case back.
Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Chelsea is set in a 45 mm wide round housing made of titanium. The housing sports alternating polished and satin finishes for greater visual appeal. The latter of two finishes can be seen on the fixed bezel that surrounds a crystal which is made of sapphire and which treated with anti-reflective coating. The same material is used on the transparent case-back section.
The latest novelty by Hublot sports a dial with sunray motif and satin-finish. It features two chrono counters in silver color (at three and nine o’clock positions) as well as a date display executed via an aperture on its bottom.
As for the beating heart of the watch, it is caliber HUB1143. It is a self-winding chronograph movement with 59 rubies which is comprised of 280 components altogether. Its supported power reserve is not too big and lasts for 42 hours.
Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Chelsea is paired with a black alligator leather strap which features a blue rubber lining and trim. It locks with a deployant buckle clasp made of stainless steel.
The piece with the serial number 521.NX.7119.LR.CFC16 is water proof to 50 meters. The official release and the presentation of the piece to the public took place on April 13 in the club’s training ground in Surrey. The members of media saw the watch for the first time in the company of Hulobt’s CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, as well as Chelsea team members and officials.
