Girard-Perregaux presents its very first timepiece that reveals the mechanical heart under a transparent sapphire dial. Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Large Date Moon Phases Watch features Art Deco-inspired aesthetic code which has been enhanced with its uncompromisingly modern mechanical structure.
The transparent dial of the new Vintage 1945 model is crafted from lightly tinted sapphire glass, which serves as a see through window revealing a swarm of gears, display disks, levers, wheels and screws.

Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Large Date, Moon-Phases watch is powered with the GP caliber GP03300-0105 automatic mechanical movement that offers no less than 46 hours of power reserve when fully charged. The self-winding movement is built on 32 jewels and beats at the rapid frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour (4 Hz).
The dial boasts a magical smoked-glass effect that has been achieved by surface metallization. The seconds circle and the inscriptions on the dial such as oversized Arabic numerals and hour markers have been created through printing. The watch features embossed and polished dauphine-style hands.

The mechanism provides the usual set of functions (hours, minutes and small seconds), as well as a large jumping date complication at the 12 o’clock position, and a moon-phase indicator at the 6 o’clock position, thus making visual balance and adding a colorful note to the watch. At the 6 o’clock position there is also a subsidiary seconds counter.
The large jumping date is displayed by a tandem of two adjacent disks. This patented mechanism is quite rapid thus providing a date change to be completed in under 5 milliseconds when triggered. On the opposite side, the moon-phase disc which operates on the same axis as the small seconds hand has a discreetly concealed technical profile, which is marked by the presence of two moon symbols that appear alternatively on the micro-dial.

When you turn the watch backside, there is a see-through crystal glass case-back which reveals the movement of the oscillating weight. The crystal also protects the movement from the water pressure. The water resistance is assured down to 30 meters (about 100 feet).
