Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk series was firstly introduced in 1960s and redesigned in 2012. It’s been almost two years since Girard-Perregaux updated and reinvented their classic high-performance diver’s watch. Recently, the Swiss manufacturer unveiled its latest member of the See Hawk line of watches that boasts a bright nautically-inspired color scheme.

The new Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk for 2014 boasts vivid nautical hues of cobalt blue for the dial and the strap whereas the second hands, the power reserve display and the first quarter of the minutes scale on the unidirectional bezel are picked out in coral orange. This vivid color combination is actually the only aesthetic change that can be noticed on this newcomer.

Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk 2014 Watch Dial
The new GP dive watch features a raised honeycomb pattern on the dial. The three-dimensional hour markers are coated with a luminescent substance thus providing legibility even in murky waters or in a deep darkness. The hands are also covered with a luminescent material. A date window is situated at the 2 o’clock position, while on the opposite side, at the 10 o ‘clock position, there is placed a small seconds sub-dial. A power reserve indicator stands out clearly at the 6 o’clock position.
The case of the Sea Hawk 2014 is crafted from stainless steel and it measures 44mm in diameter. Its sporty case boasts the superior level of water resistance of 1,000 meters (about 3,300 feet) which is ensured with a screw-down rubber crown that meets the requirements set by the international standard ISO 6425 for diving watches. Furthermore, this divers watch is tooled with a helium valve that allows decompression on the great depths between the watch’s interior and the environment.

It has hour, minute, small second, power reserve and date functions. The self-winding mechanism is built on 27 jewels and it has a rapid beating rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).

This range of top quality dive watches derived its name from the Second World War, where watches which were used in marine and shipping operations were referred to as Sea Hawks.
