Girard-Perregaux unveils a new modern, yet aristocratic variant of its famous 1966 model. This novelty is dressed in blue and it is a worthy successor of the understated and refined GP style. The 1966 collection embodies the Girard-Perregaux’s expertise in the design of classic timepieces and pays homage to the most prosperous era in the brand’s history, thus echoing the spirit of the 60’s when the Swiss manufacturer launched its first high frequency movement.

Today, the Girard-Perregaux ever-stylish range incorporates many different versions of the same model – from simple three-handers to highly-complex annual calendar and equation of time watches. This line comprises innovative in-house movements which are made on the same principles of exceptional precision and performance.
The blue hour Girard-Perregaux 1966 watch is housed either in 18-karat rose gold or 18-karat white gold case (their referent numbers are 49527-52-431-BB4A and 49527-53-432-BB4A). The 41mm case which is a little bit larger than on the previous models matches a slightly spherical crystal and an inclined diamond polished bezel that enhances its delicacy. Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a royal blue sunburst-finish dial which comprises baton-shaped hour markers.

When you turn the watch upside down there is a transparent sapphire case back which reveals the in-house movement GP01800-0004. The self-winding movement, with a pink gold rotor consists of 190 individual components and is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch ticking for no less than 54 hours when fully wound.
The oscillating weight is decorated with Côtes de Genève finish and bears the Girard-Perregaux name. Other movement finishes includes polished beveled angles, straight Geneva stripes on the bridges, circular graining on the main plate and a gold rotor with circular Geneva Stripes. The impeccable movement has a beating rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and is built on 28 jewels.
