On the eve of 2015, there is yet another stunning Girard Perregaux Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge which will delight all the lovers of beautiful watchmaking. This novelty dazzles with 308 adorably set diamonds from the bezel to the lugs and the crown and represents an ode to femininity.
While the feminine curves of the new Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge timepiece sparkle with brilliant-cut diamonds, this highly complicated mechanical watch also pays tribute to the high-end Swiss watchmaking.
The watch is housed in an 18-karat white gold oval case which measures 37.3mm x 32.3mm. The oval shape is the characteristic signature mark of the GP Cat’s Eye collection.
The beautiful case frames a white mother-of-pearl which is engraved in relief with a floral motive and completed with the elegant leaf-shaped gold hands. The case is shielded with anti-reflective sapphire crystals and the case back of the watch is secured by 4 screws.
The most amazing detail on the watch is the iconic Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon under the Gold Bridge which is situated at the 6 o’clock position. It also serves as a small second indicator.
The tourbillon regulates the running of the caliber GP09700-0012 manual winding movement and improves its accuracy. The 20 jewels movement consists of 174 components, each decorated, adjusted and assembled by hand. The perfect finishing of the mechanism according to the highest standards of fine watchmaking is yet another sign of the exacting standards of Girard-Perregaux.
The in-house manufactured movement oscillates at the frequency of 21.600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and it is capable to deliver a fairly generous power reserve of around 70 hours. The movement is protected against the ingress of water pressure up to 30 meters (about 100 feet).
The movement can be partially seen via the sapphire crystal case back where its future owners can enjoy the beauty of its hand-polished and engraved tourbillon, the polished bridge which is also adorned with Geneva stripes, as well as the rhodium-plated main plate that features circular-grained and beveled hollows.
Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Tourbillon with Gold Bridge (ref. 99490D53P703-CKHA) comes with a striking red alligator leather strap, ending with a white gold folding buckle which is set with 14 diamonds (weighing 0,118 ct). The watch also has an additional deep black alligator leather strap.
