In a rare turn of events, Fossil has produced a timepiece with a self-winding mechanical movement. This unusual watch in the offer of the mostly fashion oriented manufacturer is made in a limited edition and called Breaker. Though without any additional features except a date display, it is still the most interesting Fossil watch in a strictly watchmaking sense. Another nice trait is the watch’s ability to withstand pressure up to 200 meters which qualifies it as a diving timekeeper. Moreover, it is fairly affordable with the price of $445.
The respectable water resistance of 20 ATM is backed up with more features of a diving timepiece – it has a screw-down crown and a unidirectional rotating bezel. Its movable bezel features a knurled appearance for easier handling and is in black color with contrasted Arabic numerals.

Fossil Breaker Limited Edition is placed inside a round 316 stainless steel housing with brushed finish. Its diameter is 45 mm, whereas its thickness measures to 14 mm. On the front side, the rare automatic timepiece by Fossil includes a glare-proofed crystal made from mineral. The fact that they used mineral instead of sapphire crystal in a way reduces the appeal of the watch, but simultaneously enables it to have a lower price. On the rear side of the case there is solid metal which is engraved with the number which denotes the place of the watch in the 554-piece limited edition.

The men’s watch by Fossil has a black analog dial that matches the color of the bezel. Its dial features three hands (hour and minute hands are luminous and the minute hand has an orange outline, whereas the sweeping second hand is in blue color), applied luminous bar-shaped hour markers and white minute indices. It also incorporates an aperture used to indicate date which is placed in a traditional spot, at the right side of the dial.

Inside the steel housing, there is a self-winding Miyota 8215 movement. It is a caliber of Japanese production (Miyota is owned by the Citizen group) which features 21 jewels. It is made with a one-way winding system and once its power storage is filled completely, it provides enough power to keep the timepiece running for about 40 hours. It has the operational frequency of 3 Hz while its dimensions are 26 mm for the diameter and 5.67 for the thickness.
Three Interchangeable Wristlets
When it comes to the attachment, Fossil Breaker Limited Edition timepiece can satisfy various tastes, since it is coupled with three different interchangeable wristlets. There are: a black high-grade silicone strap with perforations, a black nylon NATO strap with a blue stripe in the middle, as well as a three-row bracelet made of solid 315 steel. Each of three attachments fastens with a single push deployment clasp.
Another nice trait is that the watch comes in a special water proof orange box made of nylon injection-molded plastic. It is large enough, so one can carry the Fossil Breaker along with his personal belongings, such as keys, wallet and phone. Being sealed with water and dust proof pressure knob, the box is ideal to carry one’s things in it when going to the beach.
