Two limited edition of Spacematic timepieces by Fortis offer watches with exceptional legibility and very minimalistic and unique design without any excessive details or decorations. However, its simplicity in this instance is not a fault in the styling of the watch, because the elements are combined in a very harmonious end product with a modern design that is not utilized in other models by the Swiss watchmaker, apart from Spacematic. Similarly, the timekeeper does not include many complications apart from the calendar with day and date, but it is a watch with an automatic mechanical beating heart and quality construction that recommends it is a solid choice for your wristwatch. Besides, another likeable characteristic is the fact that this model is intended to be worn by both men and women.
As it has been said, there are two limited editions of Fortis watches that bear the name of Spacematic. However, they share most of the traits, especially considering their technical capabilities, as well as the choice of materials. The most notable difference which is immediately visible is the color of the dials. The first version with the reference number 633.22.41 has a black dial with contrasting white eight Roman numerals and white minute markers on the flange. The other version, the model 633.22.42 has the opposite style with a white dial and black markers and hands.
There is also a difference between two dials that is not notable right away, unless you are in darker surroundings. While the black-faced Spacematic features the usual kind of legibility enhancement, with luminous hands, numerals and markers, the white model has a whole different approach. This variation has a dial that is entirely coated with Superluminova which has a blue afterglow in dark, which in combination with the matte black elements of the dial secures perfect visibility. Besides, the dials of both versions include red seconds sweeping hands, and apertures that show the day and date, situated right next to each other at the traditional three o’clock place. It is interesting that days of a week can be displayed bilingually: either in English or German language.
Fortis Spacematic Limited Edition Watch has a two-part case made from stainless steel with sandblasted matt finish. It features the diameter of 40 mm and the thickness of 12 mm. The back of the case is screw-down and enables the watch to be water resistant to 200 meters. Quite impressive resistance to water in the range of basic diving watches also required a pusher protection for its screw-in steel crown which looks rather nice and fits perfectly in the design of the watch.
The Fortis product from the Limited Edition has a self-winding movement. As it is often the case, the brand did not specify the exact caliber that was used, but presented its basic characteristics. The automatic movement has 25 jewels incorporated in its construction, beats at the high frequency of 4Hz and includes a fine timing device regulator on the escapement for enhanced accuracy, and an Incabloc shock absorber for the improved resilience.
The basic attachment for the black version is a textile black strap with a steel butterfly folding clasp, while for the white one, it is the same kind of wristlet, but in the color of sand. Apart from these basic choices, it is also possible to combine these watches with steel bracelets, as well as rubber, silicone and leather straps in different colors. Both limited editions consist of 2012 pieces.
