A new revolutionary watch with the ultimate precision, named the Citizen Appleseed XIII Eco-Drive Satellite Watch will be released in fall. It is the first timepiece that includes the technology that allows it to receive signals from satellites in the Earth’s orbit.

Citizen Appleseed XIII Eco-Drive Satellite Wave WatchSince the satellite signals are under the control of atomic clocks, the latest Citizen watch is ultra precise. This captivating timepiece is also powered by solar energy, which enables it to function continuously without the need for battery replacement. Solar power and extreme precision combined are the insurance that you don’t have to worry about the maintenance, because the Citizen Appleseed XIII functions perfectly, precisely and endlessly.

This revolutionary watch is another giant leap for the watchmaking industry. Citizen has found a way to overcome the greatest obstacle for radio-controlled watches. Even though this sort of timekeeping insures the greatest precision, it has serious problems because of the limited coverage of the existing stations. Radio signals can be received only in North America, Europe and parts of Asia. Resourceful watchmaker Citizen developed the Satellite Wave technology to solve this problem.

Time from Outer Space and Matching Groundbreaking Design

The next-generation Citizen watch tracks the closest from the 24 navigation satellites in the earth’s orbit. Because of the fact that each of the satellites orbits around the earth every twelve hours, the new Citizen Appleseed can get the signal from any place on the planet. Even if you are in the furthest and the most remote corners of the earth, you don’t have to worry because the watch remains in the reach of the signals and stays ultimately accurate.

Citizen Appleseed XIII Eco-Drive Satellite Wave Watch detailThe design of this amazing Citizen timepiece reflects the cutting-edge technology that enables its precision. The watch includes a metal ring, which is embedded in the bezel made of glass. This gives the impression that it is floating in outer space, just like the satellite does in the orbit. It also has a round case made of ceramic combined with stainless steel. The case appears to be independent of the watch’s lugs and has a resemblance to the earth.

The neat design of the Citizen Appleseed XIII also includes the spiral green parts, which are visible from the both sides of the bezel. This detail also reflects the fact that the Citizen’s revolutionary timepiece receives radio waves from the orbit.  Overall, its three-dimensional black dial with green and white accents is really captivating and resembles a futuristic space ship.

It seems fair to conclude that the Citizen Appleseed XIII Eco-Drive Satellite Wave Watch combines an amazing design with cutting-edge performance. If you want to connect your wrist with atomic clocks via the navigation satellites, this amazing timepiece is the right watch for you. Citizen has announced that the new Appleseed XIII will be available this fall in a limited edition. However, all of its features are still not revealed, just like its price.

    They promised a lot…
    we will see :)

Yes, it sounds and looks brilliant, but I can only hope that it will be truly functional. It would be so cool to own a wristwatch that gets info from satellites. Only disadvantage is that “the Man” will always know where you are! ;)

i am very pleased when the overall design reflects the technology being used. it seems that this watch is exactly like that. i especially like the green thingies that represent radio waves received from the satellites. i would like to see all of its features though, but so far it looks like something that the borg would assimilate. :)

In 8/2009 I wrote my idea of an GPS-managed watch to Mr. Tsuneo Nagai, Pres. of Citizen ´Watch Co., got a short letter back… The idea growed while travelling Africa with a Radio controlled Citizen Pilot Watch in 2009 (without radio signal). I corrected my watch with my old GarminGPS. Now they did it!! Its great. But as a medicine-Doctor I had no time to make patents. Hope people all over the world will have accurat time in the future.

This is definitely the best dial design I have ever seen in my whole life. I must admit that I don`t like Citizen watches, but this one has definitely left a great first impression on me. Too bad that there is only one watch from Citizen which looks like this. It will be great if there are,in the near future, a lot of watches, from other brands, which will look like this Citizen Appleseed XIII Eco-Drive Satellite.

The internal sub dials are phenomenal. I also like the green motives on the watch which look incredibly good. Finally, I must say that this watch is the best from Citizen. I must disagree with Frank, I saw a lot better watches than this one. Tag Heuer and Breitling have them.

I don`t know why everybody is saying some great stuff about this watch. It`s good, but it isn`t the best, not the best of Citizen watches and especially not the best of all collections on this site.
