Certina has become the champion of outstanding quality at an affordable price, and with new DS Rookie Chronograph watch, the Swiss manufacturer, once again proved its leader position in mid-range sporting watches. Bright colors always draw attention and with this timepiece, that is guaranteed. Its sub-dials have been decorated with colorful injections of red, green and blue. Nevertheless, you will certainly appreciate this timepiece since it looks good with any outfit.
The DS Rookie, as almost all Certina sport watches, also has a renowned DS Double Security protection system and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. It can be worn while swimming and bathing, since the case construction is 100 meters (330 feet) water resistant.
A masculine round case, measuring 40 mm in diameter, with the thickness of 11 mm, is made of stainless steel that is either treated or not with a black PVD coating. The size of this watch is acceptable for an average size of a wrist and its total weight is only 103 grams.
This timepiece from the Gent quartz collection is powered by a Swiss made ETA G10.211 quartz chronograph movement which is built on 6 jewels. This movement offers the usual set of functions, such as analogue hours and minutes indication, a small jumping second at the 6 o’clock position, as well as a little date window at the 4 o’clock position and chronograph counters for measuring 1/10 second, 60 seconds and 30 minutes with ‘add’ and ‘split’ functions.
Its black dial is completed with round and flag-shaped indexes, featuring a bold oversized Arabic numeral 12. They are highlighted with Superluminova to insure clear time reading even in the deep darkness. It operates with two push-pieces (treated with PVD) located at 2 and 4 o’clock positions. The push-pieces, as well as the crown, are protected with a set of attractive guards.
There are several models of the DS Rookie and one of them is a ladies’ watch (the referent number C016.417.17.117.00). This stunning white timepiece perfectly matches with a style of a contemporary woman.
DS Rookie is available with an elegant, three link metal bracelet, or with a sporty black rubber strap which is much more comfortable.
Two models, with the referent numbers C016.417.17.057.01 and C016.417.17.057.00, draw attention with a few bright colors on their dials (red, green and blue). If these watches are too much youthful for you, there are another three versions with fashionable metal bracelets.
The lowest price that I found is $ 469. Depending on a model, the price is not higher than $ 610. If you want both, youthful and masculine timepiece, the DS Rookie might be the perfect choice.

Very cool watch…….it has interesting and unusual bracelet.
Also, the functions are good and it has nice dial.
My vote definitely goes to this watch.
I don’t like Certina watches but this one looks nice and unique.
I have a Nautica watch but I could replace it with the watch.
I bought this incredible watch four weeks ago. I can recommend it to all, it’s really good watch, with nice design and good performances.
Everything on this watch is good except the rubber bracelet. It’s really ugly.
Bracelet made of steel is much better.
These chronographs have the basic characteristics and good water resistance of 330 feet. I like the interesting look of its sub dials. My favorite is the watch with black dial and bracelet.
My girlfriend will be delighted with the white model. Its dial looks expensive and the bracelet is very interesting and unusual it’s to my girl’s taste ..
Wow! This white chronograph looks very cool, just my taste. I like this incredible color of the dial. This watch has enough water resistance for my needs. This is a very nice combination of stainless steel and an unusual rubber strap.
