A Swiss manufacturer, Certina, unveiled the new DS Podium GMT which celebrates many years of collaboration between The Sauber F1 Team and famous watchmaker. This novelty was presented at Sauber’s headquarters in the small town of Hinwil, some 30 minutes outside Zurich. Especially for this occasion, the Sauber F1 Team’s Mexican driver Sergio Perez arrived from Mexico City.

The new Certina DS Podium GMT limited edition features second time zone, a 12-hour chronograph, as well as an engraved case back with the mention “Sauber F1 Team” and the unique production number of the watch. This newcomer boasts a brushed stainless steel case with a polished bezel bearing a tachymeter scale. The case measures 42 mm in diameter like other models from this series. At the 3 o’clock position, there is a screw down crown with side protection and two chronograph push buttons. The watch has an engraved case back “Sauber F1 Team” inscription and the team logo. The new Certina model comes in the official colors of the Sauber F1 Team – gray, red and white.
A Very Sporty Watch Matches a Nice-looking Dial
Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a grey sunray-finish dial with a snailed small-second and 24-hour counters located at 6 and 9 o’clock positions. There is also a special twin-scale GMT and a 60 minutes chrono indicator situated at the 3 o’clock position.
The central parts of hour and minute hands are filled with Superluminova, and the same luminous material is applied on sub-dial hands (24 hour and GMT), Arabic numerals (3, 9 and 12) and indexes. Thus, the time can be read in all kinds of lighting conditions. Traditionally for the DS Podium GMT models, a small black-on-white date window is placed at the 6 o’clock position.
DS Podium GMT Sauber F1 Team limited edition watch comes with a matching gray leather strap with a red stitching that echoes the Sauber team colors. Also, the new Certina’s wristwatch is delivered in a special presentation box shaped like the nose cone of the F1 car.
