New DS Multi-8 watch, with its multifunctional quartz movement, an analogue and digital display and easy-to-use functions, will appeal to world travelers, as well as businessmen.

It is equipped with a unique ETA E49.531 quartz analog/digital 8-function movement which is the main asset of this new wristwatch. It brings a set of highly useful features, such as twin “time-swap” timezones over its analog hour and minute hands, and complete calendar-week information, a timer, an alarm (it can be set for vibration or sound) and a chronograph on the digital display, fitted with a backlight. All these functions come alive at the push of its three control buttons, set on the left side of its case. The upper and lower buttons are slightly smaller while the central button, set at the 3 o’clock, is larger and thicker, and carries the letters ‘DS’ monogram upon its smoothly rounded tip.

Its 42 mm round case is crafted from high-quality 316L stainless steel and it boasts contrasting brushed and polished surfaces. The front side of the case is protected by a high-grade sapphire crystal, with internal and external glare-proofed coating, to insure optimal reading of hands and digital display. The water-resistance of its case is assured down to 100 meters (330 feet).
A modern and sleek dial comes in black color and features Superluminova-coated hour and minute hands, indices and Arabic numerals at the quarter hours. Superluminova insures readability under all conditions. A small LCD screen with a sharp backlight is positioned at the 6 o’clock.
DS Multi-8 timepiece is available with either a brown leather strap with a butterfly clasp and twin push-buttons (referent number C020.419.16.057.00), or with a matching three-row 316L stainless steel bracelet with polished central links and brushed outer links, held together by a folding safety buckle (the referent number is C020.419.11.057.00). Certina announced that a fully titanium version will be also available.

For those who are looking for a watch with a classic design and fine craftsmanship, the DS Multi-8 watch might be a perfect choice. With its great sport-classic good looks it easily spans all lifestyles. The price depends on a model. The brown strap version is about $930, while the model with a stainless steel bracelet is approximately $970.
It is a lovely combination of analog and digital display. This dial without the rectangular digital sub -dial looks much simpler.
In my opinion this combination of an analog and digital watch isn’t nice. The watch would look excellent without a digital supplement.
I bought a Certina DS Multi-8 Watch 3 weeks ago. It is a real gem! It’s thin and light to wear. The watch is always on my wrist, even while showering or sleeping. Several times I hit my watch on the asphalt (my hobby is motorcycle racing). But the glass on the watch is undamaged! Great watch!
I have owned 2 Certina watches. Both have been bad. One of them I even had to change for a new one. Certina just make bad watches for a high price. My watches have cost €300-370 and that’s really too much. I doubt that this watch is different from the watches that I had.
Leon, maybe your watches were some good replicas. I own a Certina and I can recommend this brand to anyone. It’s very good and quality.
