Since 2004, when a Swiss watchmaker, Certina, launched their first watches from the DS Podium series, they have been ones of the most popular Certina’s timepieces. This year, Certina presents new DS Podium Valgranges Automatic watch that, as the previous model, has also an oversized masculine round case with 44 mm in diameter and the same cutting-edge ETA Valgranges Automatic Chrono movement, specifically designed for ample watches.
The latest chronograph from the Swiss manufacturer is a fusion of durability, beautiful style and flawless precision. Innovation and boldness are demonstrated by its outer dimensions that are sporty, but at the same time classic, with the traditional color of gray anthracite with sunray finish.
Its colossal satin-finished steel case carries a contrasting polished steel bezel with bright and clear tachymeter markings. This men’s wristwatch is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating and its solid construction guarantees water-resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet). The thickness of this timepiece is 14.4 mm, while its total weight is 120 grams.
Three Chronograph Sub-dials
The anthracite grey dial includes three sub-dials for measuring hours, minutes and seconds. The first chronograph counter is positioned at the 3 o’clock and it count time up to 30 minutes; a second chrono counter is set at the 6 o’clock position and it times events for 12 hours, while the third one is basically small, 60 seconds subdial, positioned at the 9 o’clock.
A red, central second hand completes the chrono timing functions. Hour and minute hands are filled with Superluminova for the best visibility under low light conditions, while large index hour markers and Arabic numerals insure readability in all situations. A white date window is situated between the 4 o’clock and the 5 o’clock positions.
This watch, with the referent number C001.614.16.087.00, comes with a see-through case back, allowing you to look at the devoted movement at work. It reveals the superb finesse and artistry of the reliable and precise Swiss-made Valgranges movement. The transparent case back gives a special touch to this year’s Certina watch.
This novelty from theGentautomatic collection comes with an elegant brown leather strap, joined by a butterfly clasp with twin pushbuttons.
The retail price of the DS Podium Valgranges Automatic watch is approximately $2,100. Certina once again brought the best technology and a stunning design, combined with the brand’s tradition since 1888.
