This year’s Certina DS Action Diver Automatic Chronograph Watch is a logical extension to its previous DS Action range of sport watches. Reliability of this newcomer is guaranteed by the stringent international standard for diver’s watches ISO 6425 production techniques.

The first thing that you will notice on this new DS Action Diver Chronograph is its similarities with Omega Seamaster Planet diving watch.

Masculine in every sense, it brings together bold design and exceptionally resistant construction. It is housed in a round case with the diameter of 45.2 mm. Its large-sized case is crafted from 316L brushed stainless steel and it comes with a massive, polished bezel. Its unidirectional rotating bezel with a 60 minute tachymeter scale is covered with black lacquer.

For the best readability even in a deep underwater darkness, Swiss manufacturer treated the watch face with Superluminova. Additional amounts of Superluminova on its wide arrow-shaped hour and minute hands, markers and inside a large dot punctuating the white and red central second hand provide perfect legibility against the sleek black dial surface.

The Best Companion for Extreme Sports Lovers

This men’s wristwatch, like all Certina’s models, is equipped with a famous DS (Double Security) system for the protection of the watch movement against all negative external influences, such as pressure, temperature, moisture, shock and dust.

The new DS Action Diver Automatic Chronograph Watch is coated with sapphire crystals with antireflective coatings which protect the mechanism from all underwater dangers. The case is constructed to resist water pressure up to 200 meters (660 feet) which makes this timepiece perfectly suitable for water activities. Further, it comes with a helium escape valve placed at the 10 o’clock position. On the right side of the case, there is a protected screw-in crown, monogrammed with letters ‘DS’ and two screw-in push-buttons with black PVD detailing.

The new Certina’s timekeeper is equipped with a Swiss-made ETA 7753 automatic movement for worry-free timing which provides the usual functions of hour, minute and second, as well as a date and a chronograph functions.

A 30-minute chronograph sub-dial is located at the 3 o’clock position, whilst on the opposite side, at the 9 o’clock position, there is a small seconds counter.  A black-on-white date window (with quick-time adjustment) is displayed between 4 and 5 o’clock positions.

Certina DS Action Diver Automatic Chronograph WatchThe newest member to the Certina’s Gent Automatic Collection presented at the Baselworld 2012 watch fair is available either with a triple-row stainless steel bracelet with safety folding clasp and diving extension piece (the referent number is C013.427.11.051.00) or with a two-tone rubber strap with inscription CERTINA DIVER, former brand logo, folding safety buckle and diving extension (the referent number is C013.427.17.051.00). The first one can be bought for $2,350, while the model with rubber strap is available for $2,320.

A particularly nice detail is an embossed Turtle logo set on the screw-down case-back which was the symbol of water resistance in Certina watches of the 50s and 60s.

I like this Certina watch. Both models are great, but my favorite is the model with a rubber strap because I’m a fan of watches with rubber straps. Another great thing about this watch is that it doesn’t cost too much, on the contrary. For only $2000, you can have this piece of perfection.

  2. Ward Bates June 15, 2012

There is an interesting thing about this watch. I heard that Certina manufacturers have just copied the design for this watch from Omega manufacturers, and now this watch and Omega Seamaster Planet watch look identical. I don’t know if it is the truth, but if it is, that is be really embarrassing.

  3. Emery Miles June 15, 2012

Ward, I don’t know where you heard that dumb and hideous lie. I can’t believe that you believe in the lie about Certina company.
