Toughness and Precision

Casio Oceanus Manta OCW-S1400-1AJF watches are a part of the Casio’s elite series called Oceanus, named after ancient Greek god of the Ocean. This line combines features from the G-Shock and the Wavesceptor, the two other major timepiece series of the Japanese company. This means that every single model, just like the Casio Oceanus Manta watch, has analog dials (some older models used to have the combination of a digital and an analog watchface).

casio-oceanus-manta-ocw-s1400-1ajf-watchThis sort of watches also features five internal motors which run separately and independently. Every motor has its specific function. They control dials for time, hours, seconds and days of a week and there is also a motor that is in charge for the stopwatch.

Casio watches also have Tough Movement with its interesting functions. A Multi-band 6 feature insures a special ability to receive signals from the accurate atomic watches that correct time automatically, whenever a person who caries this watch is either in Europe, North America, Japan or China.

This technology is also followed with the substantial toughness and integrity, caused by a hybrid mount construction which is intent to secure a sufficient protection. The original shock resistant structure, made by Casio, prevents a damage of the movement parts in the cases of impacts. To insure that this is possible, precise calculations were made to conclude which is the most suitable shape, material and weight balance. The designers also considered numerous important factors.

The result of these efforts was a decision to include a larger gear shaft, so that a shaft damage can be avoided more effectively. Also, the Casio Oceanus Manta OCW-S1400-1AJF watch uses metal for positioning the pin that supports the movement. The combination of the tough metal parts and a very light resin is responsible for the extreme toughness of the watch.

Titanium and Sapphire

One of the most interesting features of the Casio Oceanus Manta OCW-S1400-1AJF watch is an auto-hand home position correction system. This means that this model of the Japanese watchmaker checks positions of the second, minute and hour hands and then compares those results with the inner time counter and makes all required adjustments.

casio-oceanus-manta-ocw-s1400-1ajfThis type has a slim 10.9 mm titanium case and a solid titanium band with one-touch 3-fold buckle. It also has sapphire glass with a non glare coating and neo-brite luminous hands. The Casio’s timepiece can withstand pressure up to 100 meters below the surface.

The Casio Oceanus Manta OCW-S1400-1AJF watch includes the world time function with 29 time zones and has a 1/20 second chronograph and a calendar. The model which was constructed by the Japanese brand, uses a Tough Solar charge system, with a power saving function and a battery change warning. When it is fully charged, the battery can run as much as five months without a new exposure to the light.

I’ve got this watch and i am really satisfied. The Oceanus is packed with features and you have to admire the technology with separate motors for different functions. Plus, it has accuracy of automatic watch and it doesn’t even need a battery replacement! Oh, it also looks terrific, its black and blue dial is superb. The best watch I ever owned!

As I can see from the review, this watch has accuracy, amazing functionality and nice eco-friendly technology, which is pretty good recommendation for it. I’m not such a big admirer of Casio, to be honest, I didn’t spend much time in getting acquainted with this brand. In this case, I was attracted by the picture and I have to say, that I’m very surprised, positively, with facts about the Oceanus. Still, I’m not sure about its durability, so I need to hear some experience, before I decide to buy it.

@Bob combination of titanium and sapphire crystal with water resistance of 10ATM should be quite tough. sounds very durable to me, though i do not own it myself

  4. Bob March 20, 2011 at 9:04 PM ·

    @Dean
You have a right, but I just can’t believe that you actually get a full package of quality, for such a low price.

  5. Bao April 2, 2011 at 1:17 PM ·

I’ve bought one (OCW-S1400-1AJF) just 2 weeks ago. I’ve always been a Seiko/Citizen guy only buy Casio if price is under $500. But this one is my first Casio that costs over $1000.00.
I hesitated at first but once I brought one home and set home time and let it receives atomic signal over night, it is a wonderful time piece that no other watch can match. light, thin, accurate and will pay for itself over time like zero maintenance, self charging, self adjust down to the second each night, auto DST set twice a year, self charging by available ambient light. And icings on the cake are: MADE IN JAPAN, Sapphire crystal, Titanium case and band, time around the world (29 cities), chronograph function, dual time display, 24h dial, perpetual calendar date display. And this watch is RARE, I am not likely run into another person with the same watch. I just love this Casio Oceanus Manta wristwatch!

  6. Bao April 2, 2011 at 1:20 PM ·

Casio Oceanus is very unique watch – I recommend this watch to anyone because I have already bought one and just love it. This definitely not a cheap watch – Very classy and high tech.

I’m really attracted to this watch .. I’m just worried about one thing .. isn’t it too small ? (39mm) ..
    everything else is perfect.

  8. Sean May 10, 2011 at 11:12 PM ·

    I mean 42mm .. still feels a bit small .. I’d like to know an owner’s opinion .

  9. OlegS.1975 May 11, 2011 at 5:14 PM ·

As a proud owner of this magnificent watch I can assure you that it’s big enough to be very legible. Good choice of dial colors also improves its legibility. It could be only called small if you prefer the same watches as Flavour Flav. :)

  10. FredD May 15, 2011 at 3:24 PM ·

Would be nice if some of the owners of the 1400 would post some public pictures in real world scenarios. I like the 1400, but can’t decide on the color. Pictures on the web seem doctored. Also, did you order from Japan to the states? If so, how was duties etc payed and how much?
