Breitling is launching a new promotional campaign for its handy traveler’s timepiece and the new face of the watch is none other than David Beckham -one of the most recognizable athletes in the world. The watch in question is Breitling Transocean Chronograph Unitimer, one of the manufacturer’s top models and the only one with the Breitling proprietary Caliber B05. This automatic chrono mechanical movement is equipped with an easily operated universal time feature enabled by a patented mechanism with a double disk. Thanks to this feature, the wearer is able to see the permanent readings of the current time in each of 24 time zones. In order to make it a true world timer, the watchmaker from Grenchen sells the COSC certified chronometer with bezels that have city designations in several languages.
The launch of a new campaign in which David Beckham promotes the Breitling’s traveler’s timepiece represents a starting point in the announced long-term partnership between the Swiss watchmaker and the British soccer player. As a part of the campaign, Breitling organized a photo shoot in the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, underlining the aeronautical heritage of the brand. The advert that features Beckham standing on the runway in front of a jet was captured by a famous American photographer, Anthony Mandler. After the photo shoot, David Beckham explained why he chose Breitling watches: “I’ve always been a long-term admirer of Breitling. As a company they create not only the highest-performance watches but also timeless designs that have inspired generations. It was a natural choice for me to partner with this fantastic brand”.
Vintage Looks and Intricate Mechanics
The traveler’s watch by Brietling promoted by David Beckham is certainly one of the brand’s models that especially showcases the specific design he mentioned in the statement. The central part of the 47mm wide watch sports a picture of a globe which can be paired with a black or a polar white dial and with a steel or rose gold round housing. The watch has an overall vintage design that evokes the proud heritage of the brand and its great success in the early years of trans-oceanic flying.
Albeit the appearance of the timekeeper belongs to olden times, the substance – its mentioned B05 caliber – is quite modern. The movement is completely developed, designed and manufactured in Breitling’s workshops. The chronograph movement utilizes the brand’s first proprietary B01 movement as its base. For the new watch from the Transocean series that is promoted by David Beckham, the caliber is enriched with the patented system that enables the supported world time feature. The model was initially released this spring and it turned out to be a great success, mostly due to the inclusion of this in-house beating heart with a highly practical complication. With the launch of the new campaign that shows-off one of the world’s greatest icons of style as its face, it seems fair to say that this Breitling timepiece will attract even more attention in the following months.
