The latest novelty by Breitling for Bentley is naturally yet another timekeeper inspired by the world of luxury vehicles. In this instance, new Breitling for Bentley GT3 is a tribute to famed Continental GT3 model. The sporty watch from the manufacturer from Grenchen is made out of combination of light-weight and sturdy materials such as titanium and carbon fibre. As expected, it is a self-winding chronometer piece which bases its functioning on Breitling B 27 movement. The novelty is launched in the limited edition of 500 pieces.
The latest model from the Breitling’s range of watches that are made in collaboration with Bentley celebrates a well-known Continental GT3 model. This grand tourer is one of the best selling models of the automotive manufacturer. It was introduced in the early 2000s and it marked the start of a new production strategy that made the brand a global powerhouse. No wonder that Breitling opted to make a watch which will be homage to its success.
All Black Appearance
Breitling for Bentley GT3 is predominately a black-colored piece, which is partly because of the choice of materials used in its creation. Its round shaped housing is made of blackened titanium and paired with the bezel in the same material. As the entire range of Breitling for Bentley pieces, the bezel is knurled and made in order to resemble the recognizable grill of Bentley vehicles. As for its functions, the bezel is of a bi-directional rotating kind and made with slide rule that allows computations of speed, thus making it much more appropriate for drivers.
The back side of the case is made out of solid metal (titanium) which is not blackened. It features several engravings. One can notice the Bentley’s logo and the one of the GT3 model, as well as an inscription which shows the place of the specific model in the 500-piece limited series. As for the dimensions of the case, it is a pretty substantial piece, since its diameter measures to 49 mm. Likewise, it is important to note that the crystal used for the timekeeper is made of sapphire with anti-reflective coatings on both sides.
Beneath the sapphire glass lays a black-colored dial with green and red accents. The face of the watch is exactly the component made of carbon fiber. The dial includes two chrono totalizers and not so common outlay. It includes a central 60-minute chronograph hand, a combined 12-hour and 60-minute counter on the left, as well as a small seconds sub-dial on the opposite side. This allows the wearer to have an effortless and simultaneous view of the elapsed time expressed in minutes and seconds, as well as in hours and minutes. The very bottom of the dark carbon fiber dial is reserved for an aperture which shows the current date.
Reliable and Accurate Motor that Drives the Watch
Each of these features is enabled with the watch’s supported Breitling B 27 caliber. It is a twin-counter self-winding chrono movement which was made from ETA 2892-A2 base (the high-end variant of the widespread ETA 2892 caliber). The movement is made with a high-frequency balance with the frequency of 28,800 vph, as it is common for the watches from the Breiltling’s workshops in Grenchen.
Due to the supported frequency of the 38-jeweled movement, it can keep track of the elapsed time with the accuracy with 1/4th of a second. Additionally, like each of the movements by the brand, it features the official COSC chronometer certification as a guarantee of its accuracy. As for the power storage, the movement with the diameter of 11 ½ lignes supports the reserve that lasts for approximately 42 hours. Previously to the novel model, this movement was featured in some of the earlier watches from the now discontinued Skyracer series of Breitling watches.
Breitling for Bentley GT3 is paired with a rubber strap. In order to match the black-colored case and the same kind of dial, it is also made in the same dark shade and it features a raised knurled motif that mirrors and complements the one which is visible on the bezel. Additionally, the racing novelty by Breitling also features the logo of the car which was used as the inspiration for the new watch and after which it was named. This symbol can be seen on two places, between upper and lower titanium lugs.
