The new Linea for ladies has the same quality and respect for craftsmanship as its predecessors from the 1950s. Compared to the previous Linea models, this fabulous timepiece adds a second indicate and a date display. This newcomer is presented in yet another expensive combination of materials, just as we used to with watches from the Linea line.
The new Baume & Mercier Two-Tone Linea Automatic Watch with the referent number 10073 perfectly combines with solid gold and stainless steel. It is housed in a middle sized case with the diameter of 32 mm and the thickness of only 10 mm. This updated version of the iconic Linea watch has a fixed steel bezel and the central parts of the bracelet that were made from the same metal swapped in favor of finely polished rose gold. Further, on the right side of the case, there is an elegant 18-karat red gold crown. The case of this exquisite wristwatch has water resistance up to 50 meters (165 feet), but you must be aware that this classy timekeeper is not made for water activities.
The brand’s unique style is evident in many important signature watch details, including ergonomic lines, and warm, earthy tones that reflect the Baume et Mercier’s territory.
Warmth and Strong Visual Appeal of the Dial
Underneath the front anti-glare sapphire crystal glass, there is a sun satin-finished, silver-colored dial with riveted indexes and gilt hands. A black-on-white date window is situated at the 6 o’clock position. The dial is encapsulated in rose gold and swathed in top grade steel which forms a continuum from the strap around the face. The watch features a see-through sapphire crystal case back, fitted with four screws, so you can view the complete movement with oscillating weight adorned with “Côtes de Genève” and featuring the brand’s signature PHI symbol.
The new watch with feminine beauty is powered either by the famous Swiss made ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement or by its high-quality clone Sellita SW300. Both mechanisms are built on 21 jewels and provide the usual set of functions (hours, minutes, seconds and date). Each of them beats at the high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and preserves no less than 42 hours of power reserve.
Although the new Linea timepiece represents a perfect mixture of gold and steel, the main selling point of the watch is its proprietary interchangeable bracelet system that lets you easily swap the bracelet for a satin strap and back depending on your outfit. Its polished and satin-finished bracelet fits a triple folding security clasp, while the strap is secured to the ladies’ wrist with a steel pin buckle.
The new Baume & Mercier Two-Tone Linea Automatic watch can be purchased for approximately $4,500, which is not much for such an elegant and beautiful piece of jewelry.
