A one-of-a-kind Baume & Mercier Capeland Shelby® Cobra watch will be auctioned at Antiquorum in New York City on December 9, 2015. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Carroll Shelby Foundation, and bids may be placed online, over the phone or in person.
This organization was conceived in honor of the eponymous American racing legend. The Carroll Shelby Foundation raises funds to help families and children affected by heart disease. Also, it provides schooling and education for underprivileged young people in the US.
At the beginning of 2015, the Swiss manufacturer announced its partnership with Carroll Shelby International Inc. to create two exclusive, limited edition timepieces born from the DNA of Shelby’s most revered creations.
The very first watch that commemorates the history and the achievements of American automotive designer, racing driver and entrepreneur is the Capeland Shelby Cobra Watch that was unveiled earlier this year. Following the success of this launch, Baume & Mercier announces the second installment as a result of this collaboration – a unique Capeland Shelby® Cobra watch.
This one-of-a-kind sporty timepiece boasts an off-white dial with sky blue stripes picking up those on racing cars. Baume & Mercier Capeland Shelby® Cobra is housed in a round 18-karat rose gold case which measures 44mm in diameter. Its polished and satin-finished case comes with a black calfskin strap with round-scale blue alligator lining and gray stitching, fitted with an 18-karat red gold pin buckle.
The reverse side of the watch reveals the commemorative inscription “Shelby Cobra 1965-2015, Unique Piece” which frames a sapphire crystal bearing Carroll Shelby’s signature.
The beating heart of the new Capeland Shelby Cobra timepiece is a Swiss-made mechanical self-winding movement. The impeccable flyback chronograph mechanism is manufactured in the Manufacture La Joux-Perret.
A one-of-a-kind Baume & Mercier Capeland Shelby® Cobra will be presented in a presentation box that also contains an additional black alligator leather strap with round-scale blue alligator lining and gray stitching.
The luxury Swiss watchmaker will offer only one piece of this significant collector’s item. The highest bidder in the auction that will be held on December 9 will also receive an exclusive VIP package experience, valued at $10,000. This package comprises a visit to the Shelby World Headquarters in Las Vegas, an original illustration of the Cobra signed by the Cobra driving legends, a Cobra driving experience, a VIP factory tour, two custom-made racing suits, a personal item of Carroll Shelby and a photo opportunity aboard a historical Cobra CXS2000.
“It is a pleasure for Antiquorum to offer Baume & Mercier’s unique Capeland Shelby® Cobra Flyback Chronograph commemorating Carroll Shelby’s most celebrated automotive creation, the legendary Shelby Cobra in our December auction,” said Evan Zimmermann, the President & CEO of Antiquorum. “We are honored to support the Carroll Shelby Foundation and help raise funds to assist families of children with major heart ailments”, he concluded.
