At the Baselworld 2017, the house of Chopard presented the L.U.C Lunar One perpetual calendar with the astronomical moonphase display. This exquisite newcomer comes in a platinum case and it is produced in the limited series of only 950 pieces.
Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Watch measures 43mm in diameter and 11.47mm in thickness. Its elegant case boasts vertical satin-brushed flanks with the top of the lugs and the bezel mirror-polished. Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a multi-layered, chic royal blue dial which is distinguished with a large date and moonphase display.
The deep blue dial boasts a sunburst pattern which radiates from the L.U.Chopard logo placed at the 12 o’clock position. The top of the dial is also reserved for the large twin-aperture date window. The perpetual calendar indications that sit on the three sub-dials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions use large white fonts to provide perfect legibility. The moonphase display shows a star-studded blue sky representing those stars seen in the Northern Hemisphere. The moon phase indication is highly precise with 122-year fidelity. The dial also comprises mirror-polished and applied Roman numerals, as well as rhodium-plated sword hands.
The heart of L.U.C Lunar One timepiece is the in-house manufactured L.U.C caliber 96.13-L that bears the iconic Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark. Its precision is certified by the COSC, the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute. The self-winding mechanism operates at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and it is capable to store enough energy to keep the watch working for about 65 hours.

The Chopard’s in-house caliber is among a few self-winding perpetual calendars that use a micro-rotor. Thanks to the use of a 22-carat gold micro-rotor, the movement is quite slim measuring only 6mm in thickness.

The movement’s finishes include beveled bridges that are adorned with Geneva stripes, a circular-grained base-plate, guilloché-work on the rotor, as well as mirror-polished steel parts and a regulator with swan neck adjustment. The back view reveals the inner beauty of the mechanism.
Chopard L.U.C Lunar One (ref. 161927-9001) is teamed up with a matching blue alligator leather strap, fitted with a folding clasp crafted from platinum and 18-karat white gold. The watch is water resistant up to 50 meters (approximately 165 feet).
