In celebration of Girard-Perregaux’s 225th anniversary, La Chaux-de-Fonds-based watchmaker has released its first two chronographs with automatic winding: Stradale and Circuito. They are a part of the new Sport Competizione collection and each of them features design which evokes the automotive world.

Girard-Perregaux Circuito Chronograph Watch

Girard-Perregaux Circuito Chronograph Watch (ref. 49590-39-612-BB6B) is crafted from a carbon and titanium composite which is four times lighter than titanium and eight times lighter than steel. The ultra-light material features a metallic effect thanks to the inclusion of titanium, thus evoking high end sports cars bodies. The 42mm case of the new Circuito Chronograph is incredibly lightweight weighting only 58.5 grams. Its case also incorporates pushers and crown which are made of DLC coated titanium. The water resistance is assured down to 30 meters (approximately 100 feet).

Girard-Perregaux Circuito Chronograph Watch Profile

Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a gorgeous honeycomb dial which evokes the unique design of the radiator grill from a race car. The dial comprises white luminous baton-styled hour and minute hands, and hour markers which stand out against the dark background, together with red accents on the small seconds hand, chronograph seconds hand, and marking every five seconds on the outer ring. Two slightly sunken chronograph counters – the 12-hour register and 30-minute register – are situated at the 6 and 9 o’clock positions, while a small seconds sub-dial is placed at the 3 o’clock position. There is also a small date window at the 4 o’clock position.

The Circuito Chronograph is powered with the in-house manufactured caliber GP03300-0122 automatic movement which provides hours, minutes, small seconds, date and chronograph functions. The manufacture movement is built on 27 jewels and oscillates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), while enjoying the autonomy of 46 hours once the movement is wound.

The new sporty chronograph from Girard-Perregaux is secured to the wrist with a carbon effect calfskin strap, ending with a steel black DLC treated folding buckle.
