For the first time, Villeret Quantième Annuel GMT Watch is housed in a stainless steel body. The exceptional novelty that plays with contrasts was unveiled earlier this month at Baselword 2016 watch show.
Blancpain Villeret Quantième Annuel GMT Steel Watch (ref. 6670-1127-55B) features a round case measuring 40mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness. As the name suggests, it is an annual calendar watch (the French words Quantième Annuel means Annual Calendar) so it only needs to be adjusted once a year at the end of February. For other months, the watch automatically moves from the 30th or the 31st to the first day of the following month.
The term GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time and it is used to refer to timepieces with dials equipped with a dual-time or second time-zone display. The GMT display of local time is provided by the central hours hand to which the date is linked. A small 24-hour sub-dial situated at the 8 o’clock position shows the reference time.
The dial is white and comprises applied silver Roman numerals for the hour markers, as well as the sliver leaf-styled hour and minute hands and the running seconds hand which is also sliver and its counterweight is the brand’s logo. The day, date and month apertures are located on the right side of the dial at 2, 3 and 4 o’clock positions.
Blancpain Villeret Quantième Annuel GMT Watch is powered by the self-winding caliber 6054F with a decorated yellow gold rotor. The impeccable mechanism is capable to store enough power to keep the watch ticking for at least 3 days (72 hours). The 34 jewels mechanism consists of 367 individual parts.
The case of the new Villeret Quantième Annuel GMT is fitted with Blancpain’s exclusive patented under-lug correctors. The first one which is placed at the 1 o’clock position enables simple manual adjustment of the day of the week, whereas the second one located at the 5 o’clock position adjusts the month. Other functions, such as time-setting, fast GMT and date corrections can be adjusted via the crown.
The reverse side of the watch reveals the inner beauty of the watch, as well as its yellow gold rotor encrusted with a guilloché motif.
The last, but not the least, the new Blancpain watch comes with an alligator leather strap lined with Alzavel calfskin. The watch is secured to the wearer’s wrist with a triple-blade folding clasp which also ensures optimal user-friendliness.
