This week at Baselworld 2015 watch fair, Corum is going to present a new watch that is inspired by the two of the most amazing creatures in Chinese mythology: the dragon and the phoenix. The first one symbolizes life and power, whilst the latter is a symbol of a good omen. When joined together, these two mythical figures bring the promise of prosperity.
Corum Golden Bridge Dragon & Phoenix Watch is built around the brand’s exclusive baguette hand-wound CO 113 movement in an exciting body-to-body. A vertical axis of the movement is prolonged by the winding crown at the 6 o’clock position to further highlight its remarkable construction.
The mighty dragon and the king of the birds are hand-sculpted from 18-karat pink gold and they come to life through painstaking engraving. For a single piece, a skilful artisan needs three weeks to complete it.
The movement is enclosed inside the transparency of its elegant case with see-through crystal back and sides which are all in sapphire, so that the wearer can enjoy both the dragon and the phoenix in their three dimensions.
The mechanical movement oscillates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and features variable-inertia balance, 18-karat red gold bridges and plate decorated with the hand-engraved Corum signature. The visually stunning caliber is capable to store enough power to keep the watch working for about 40 hours. The hour and minute hands are colored in anthracite in order to provide better legibility.
The new Corum Golden Bridge Dragon & Phoenix timepiece is housed in a tonneau-shaped case crafted from 18-karat pink gold. The elegant golden case measures 34 x 51mm and is teamed with a brown alligator leather strap, fitted with an 18-karat pink gold buckle. The case is shielded with sapphire crystals and constructed to provide water resistance up to 30 meters (circa 100 feet).
La Chaux-de-Fonds-based watchmaker also offered an additional version of this timepiece which is adorned with 396 round-cut diamonds (approximately 4.15 carats). This jewelry model features the same characteristics as the regular Golden Bridge Dragon & Phoenix Watch.
