Breitling has presented a new larger sized version of its Navitimer 01 model, named after its diameter size Navitimer 01 (46mm). The new watch, first revealed at the Baselworld 2014 show, is equipped with the brands Caliber B 01 self-winding movement and is pretty much the same as the basic version, apart from its larger dimensions. There will be two options for the dial: black with silver counters and blue with counters in the same tone. For the attachments, Breitling offers the choice of a steel bracelet and two types of straps: these are Barenia leather and the other slightly more lavish made from crocodile skin. The basic version of the watch is in stainless steel, but there is also a 200-piece restricted series in red gold.
Navitimer has been in production ever since 1952 and it is the world’s oldest chronograph that has been in continuous interrupted production. This year, The Grenchen-based watchmaker offers a new model in a larger size. Otherwise, the timepiece does not bring any spectacular novelties. As its smaller relative, it is supplied with the brand’s premiere in-house movement – self-winding B 01 column-wheel chronograph with 47 jewels which has a power reserve of 70 hours and it operates at the frequency of 4 Hz.
Moreover, the new watch likewise has a circular slide rule which stems from its aviation origin. The dial is made in epergne technique, a traditional decorative operation which involves coloring of a pure silver background. The dial is black or blue for the steel versions, while the limited edition in red gold comes only with the black face. Regardless of the variation, the watch has a sapphire crystal and a transparent case-back.
For the wristlets of the new bigger Navitimer, Breitling has prepared three options. The first one is Navitimer bracelet, a seven link attachment made of stainless steel. This bracelet is available only for the steel version. Other two are made from plain and from crocodile leather and both lock with a tang-type buckle.
