For the world’s largest international exhibition of watches and jewelry, Baselworld 2014, Breva is adding an additional version of the Genie 02 timepiece named Genie 02 Air which combines the stunning sophistication of a beautifully crafted mechanical watch with the practicality of a high-performance altimeter.

This newcomer is a perfect companion for active athletes whether their passion is flying, skydiving, paragliding, mountain climbing, skiing, or if they simply enjoy the fresh air and stunning views that high altitudes offer.

Breva Genie 02 Air is housed in a sleek, black titanium case that offers a subtle, yet stunning backdrop to the highly legible hands and markers, providing that essential information, i.e. time and altitude, which are visible at the first glance. Its contemporary case measures 44.70 mm in diameter and 16.10 mm in thickness.

The watch is 100% Swiss-made, from inception to realization, and it features a counter for the time and one for a precision altimeter, along with a 65-hour power reserve display which is located at the 4 o’clock position. The sub-dial situated at the 8 o’clock position displays hours and minutes, while the counter at the 2 o’clock is altimeter indicator. The large-scale altitude indicator, which displays up to 5,000 meters (or 16,400 feet) is placed on the top of the dial. A small seconds counter is situated below it. Also, above power reserve indicator there is an indicator that reveals when the air valve is open or closed (it is necessary to be open to indicate the altitude). Its three-dimensional dial features grained and galvanized nickel silver indexes and Arabic numerals, as well as superluminova coating.

The Genie 02 Air watch has three chevron-engraved crowns. The two-position crown which is located at the 9 o’clock position winds the movement and sets the time. A screw down crown at the 2 o’clock position rotates both the altitude’s precision-scale and large-scale to adjust for variations in air pressure, which affects altitude readings. The third crown located at the 4 o’clock position is actually a screw down crown which either seals air out of the movement or allows it in.

Reliability and longevity of the new Breva watch are maximized by means of an osmotic Teflon membrane that filters any moisture and humidity from air before it enters the movement.

The watch dial is protected with a double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal, while on the back cover there is also an installed sapphire crystal, engraved with abbreviations of international airports and their altitudes.

The beating heart of the Genie 02 Air is the Swiss made manual winding caliber which was specially designed by Jean-François Mojon from Chronode atelier for Breva company. The mechanism, collected on the 45 jewels, has the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and consists of 415 individual components.

Breva Genie 02 Air is attached to a black rubber strap, fitted with a titanium tang buckle. The watch is produced in the limited series of 55 pieces. It will retail for 120,000 Swiss francs (approximately $137,000).
