Omega extended its renowned Seamaster Planet Ocean line with an extraordinary GMT model that marks the brand’s partnership with the GoodPlanet Foundation. The new Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet watch is distinctive by its striking blue lacquered dial. Along with the complete set of features of a professional diving watch, this attractive timepiece also features a 24 hours scale and a GMT hand.
Founded eight years ago, GoodPlanet group has been trying to raise awareness about dangers that oceans face and to point out the necessity of preserving these natural resources. One of its partners on this important task is the renowned Swiss watchmaker which decided to help a very delicate GoodPlanet’s project by donating a part of the proceeds from the sale of its new Seamaster watch.
Featuring a robust, 43.5 mm case made of brushed and polished stainless steel, the new watch is perfect for serious underwater operations. A bi-directional rotating polished blue bezel ring features a lacquered orange 24-hour scale which matches the luminescent orange GMT hand. The case incorporates two crowns, one for setting time and the other one for operating with the bezel. At its side, at the 10 o’clock position, there is a helium-escape valve which is an inevitable feature of diving watches which are aimed to work on great depths.
The dial is large, bright and clear, with applied indexes, as well as with polished and facetted rhodium-plated hour, minute, seconds and aluminum-fashioned GMT hands. They are all covered with white Super-LumiNova that emits a blue light in dark, with the exception of the minute hand which glows in green, as well as the dot on the diving bezel. Finally, there is a date window, located at the 3 o’clock position.
Both sides of the case are protected with domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, enhanced with anti-reflective treatment. From the back-side which is engraved with “GoodPlanet Foundation”, it opens a clear view at an exclusive OMEGA Co-Axial Calibre 8605 self-winding movement.
It incorporates a three-level Co-Axial escapement, a Si14 silicon balance spring, a rhodium-plated balance bridge and oscillating mass, as well as a beautiful finishing with exclusive Geneva waves in arabesque. Thanks to two barrels mounted in series, it provides a great power reserve of 60 hours.
As you can guess from its name, Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GoodPlanet GMT watch has a superb water-resistance of up to 600 meters (about 2000 feet). It is available either with a classic stainless steel bracelet or a sporty blue rubber strap that perfectly matches the color of the dial and the bezel, at the same time recalling the noble cause that stands behind this great edition.
