Omega shows as a dark side of the Moon (or better saying a dark side of the Moonwatch) and it looks spectacular. The new Speedmaster Chronograph is now completely dressed in black, thanks to high-tech black ceramic body and a sporty Cordura strap. All details about this watch will be available during the Baselworld 2013 watch fair. However, we already have enough information and images to enjoy the first views of this remarkable model.

Omega Dark Side of the Moon Black Ceramic Watch
The key element that makes this Omega’s striking novelty so special is high-tech ceramic that is used for a 44.25mm case, case-back and two chronograph pushers. The last couple of years, ceramic has been highly popular among watchmakers and we had a chance to see a number of stunning and innovative ceramic timepieces, created by Panerai, IWC, Tag Heuer, Hublot, Audemars Piguet and other high-end brands. Omega Dark Side of the Moon watch is a great reinterpretation of the brand’s iconic watch and so far, one of the best ceramic models.
It took over the design of the latest Omega Co-Axial Chronograph that features two instead of three sub-dials, which was characteristic for the legendary Moonwatch. This arrangement makes the dial more readable, while keeping the same functionality, since the sub-dial at the 3 o’clock position displays both 12-hour and 60-minute time periods. The small seconds counter is located at the 9 o’clock position, while the date window takes the 6 o’clock position. The dial is made of black zirconium oxide ceramic, featuring white gold applied indexes and luminescent hour, minute and chronograph hands. It is framed by a bold looking ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale.

The polished ceramic case-back comes with the “Dark Side of the Moon” inscription. It is covered with sapphire crystal that reveals the brand’s signature Co-Axial caliber 9300 self-winding chronograph movement. It incorporates a column wheel and a Co-Axial Escapement that guarantees higher precision, stability and durability, as well as two barrels mounted in series, and a balance spring, made of silicon that protects it from magnetic fields.
