A few months before the start of the world’s most important watch show, Omega presented its innovative alloy, called Sedna™ gold, which represents the unique blend of three elements: gold, copper and palladium. We can expect a wide use of this stunning material in the future. So far, there is a beautiful Constellation Sedna, the first timepiece ever to show the exquisite luster of the Sedna gold. Created in the Limited Edition of 1,952 pieces, this unique watch will be officially presented at the Baselworld 2013.
In the last couple of years, Omega has presented a number of great innovations in terms of technology (see its latest novelty – the anti-magnetic Omega Co-Axial Calibre 8508 movement) and design (Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronometer watch, for example). However, beside its high-end mechanism and exquisite stylishness that come with the Constellation Collection, the new watch deserves a special attention thanks to its material.
Named after a trans-Neptunian object with one of the reddest surfaces in our Solar System, it comprises minimum 75 percents of 18 karat gold. The right proportion of copper contributes to the distinctive rose color, while palladium supposes to give longevity to the reddish tone of Sedna™ gold.

Thus, new Omega Constellation Sedna watch has its case, bezel, applied hour markers, hands and clasp on a strap, crafted in 18 karat Sedna™ gold. The nice contrast comes from different finishes. The surface of the 38mm case is polished, while the bezel presents brushed finishing and stylish engraving of tone-in-tone Roman numerals. For the timeless elegance, the watch is attached to a brown leather strap.
Inspired by an interface of the very first Constellation watch from 1952 (notice that the edition of the Constellation Sedna is limited to 1,952 pieces), a thrilling silvery “pie-pan” dial features distinctive, diamond polished hour markers and hands, an applied Omega logo and a striking date window at the 3 o’clock position. The dial is protected with domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.
Sapphire crystal also covers the back-side of the watch, revealing a stunning OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8501 self-winding movement. This officially certified chronometer with co-axial escapement and a Si14 silicon balance spring, comes with oscillating weight and balance bridge crafted in red gold. Thanks to two barrels mounted in series, it provides a great power-reserve of 60 hours.
Finally, if there is someone who is going to swim with this luxury watch, it is not a problem. The Constellation Sedna has a solid water resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet). This great timepiece will be delivered in a special wooden presentation box with a rose-colored lining.
