Definitely one of the most creative and most inventive watchmakers when it comes to the fusion of different materials, Hublot, once again brings together components that at first seemed unmatchable. This time, it is a successful marriage between carbon fiber and precious stones, each of which with its striking color provides unique and distinctive look. Thus, the new Big Bang Carbon Bezel Baguette watch comes in four versions, each highlighted either by diamonds, sapphires, rubies or tsavorites. These bold looking timepieces that show an attractive mixture of sporty style and luxury are displayed at the Baselworld 2013 watch show.
By applying traditional craft techniques, the brand’s exclusive carbon fiber components production team created the robust and strong, but super lightweight watch, with the entire body crafted in 100 percent carbon fiber, including the dial and the bezel. It looks so great and modern that it could not be boring at all in case that it came without sparkling decoration on its bezel. However, with the addition of precious stones, the renowned Swiss watchmaker reached an entirely new dimension in terms of design. Not just that these baguette-cut stones (to be precise 48 of them on each bezel) make new Big Bang watches look vivid and prominent, but they also determine the color of other important details on the watch.
If you are not a lover of colorful pieces, there is a great looking black version (Ref. 301.QX.1740.HR.1904) with the contrasting diamond set bezel, dark sub-dials and a black Horn Back alligator strap. However, if you do not mind to be recognized by a striking watch on your wrist, there is a choice of Baguette Blue Sapphires (Ref. 301.QX.1790.HR.1901), purple Baguette Rubie (301.QX.1730.HR.1902) and green Baguette Tsavorites (Ref.301.QX.1791.HR.1922) watches.
Same colors of precious stones are used to mark numerals and indices of chrono sub-dials, the minute track that runs over the outer rim, the brand’s logo and finally, alligator leather that is attached to a natural black rubber strap for an extraordinary comfort.
A 44 mm case with the classic Big Bang construction incorporates a round bezel, fixed by 6 H-shaped black PVD titanium screws. Furthermore, it features lugs and lateral inserts in black composite resin, as well as a black PVD steel crown and two push-pieces, each covered with a black rubber insert.
A sapphire crystal case-back reveals a HUB4100 self-winding chronograph movement that comprises 252 components of which 28 are jewels. It oscillates at the frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and ensures about 42 hours of power-reserve. It incorporates satin-finished, bevelled and polished bridges, as well as Tungsten carbide oscillating weight with a black ruthenium coated dimpled surface. With the set of chronograph performances and the water-resistance of 100 meters (330 feet), these watches offer a nice balance between high functionality and the exquisite style.
