Honoring its traditional art of watchmaking, the prestigious German manufacturer created another masterpiece of Glashütte Original’s Pano Collection, which, as well as the last year’s models presents a nice update in terms of design. With its contemporary designed case and dial, a new PanoLunar Tourbillon Watch represents a nice bridge between the past and modern watchmaking. The stunning timepiece that features two great complications – a flying tourbillon and a moon-phase indicator is officially revealed at the Baselworld 2013 watch show.
Characteristic by its contemporary style, a 40 mm cylindrical case has a perfectly polished edges and a slim, elegant bezel that makes the dial looks large and open. It is crafted in 18 karat red gold that nicely matches hands and applied hour markers of the stylish, of-centered sub-dial. It stands in alignment with the Flying Tourbillon cage, revealed at the 7 o’clock position. Since it completes rotation in one minute, the tourbillon indicates small seconds by a blued steel tipped seconds hand.
This extraordinary aesthetic and horological component is the most precious component of a new in-house Calibre 93-02. Based on the Calibre 93-01, this self-winding flying tourbillon movement with the power-reserve of 48 hours features a fully integrated moon-phase mechanism and an improved oscillating system with 8 regulating screws and 12 weighted gold screws for the exquisite accuracy. All decorations are visible through a sapphire crystal case-back, including bevelled edges, polished steel components, blued screws and an off-centre skeletonized rotor with 21 karat gold oscillation weight. Finally, there is a screw-mounted stainless steel plate, manually bevelled and brushed, with the “Flying Tourbillon” gold engraving.
At the upper right position of the dial, there is a beautifully designed moon-phase indicator, displaying a golden moon and shimmering stars over a dark blue surface. Right bellow, there is a large, double-date window, indicating date on an ivory colored surface by black numerals. Indications and hands are covered with Super-LumiNova for high readability. The dial is protected with sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.
Glashütte Original PanoLunar Tourbillon watch comes in two variations – REF. 1-93-02-05-05-05 with brown Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather strap and the version with the referent number 1-93-02-05-05-04 that incorporates black Louisiana Alligator leather strap.
