To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Saratoga Race Course, the Swiss watchmaker Concord introduces its new Saratoga Chronograph Black PVD 2013 watch. The famous racecourse was opened in August, 1863 in New York and today represents America’s oldest continuous racing tradition at the nation’s oldest sporting venue.
This newcomer is a PVD version of the brand’s famous Saratoga Chronograph. When compared to the original model, the new timepiece features larger counters, crystal clear Roman numerals and a big date window.
The Saratoga Chronograph Black PVD is housed in a round case crafted from stainless steel and, as its name suggests, coated with black PVD. Its case measures 42mm in diameter and 10.9mm in thickness, and it is shielded with 1.5mm thick sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The water resistance is assured down to 50 meters (165 feet). The screw-down crown and chronograph pushers are made from steel and they are not treated with black PVD.
Its sleek sporty case is tooled with a fixed octagonal bezel with eight inserts in polished stainless steel. The screw-down case back of the watch is encrusted with the images of horses on the racetrack and secured by four screws.
The heart of the new Concord is Caliber Ronda 5130.b chronograph quartz movement which animates the standard functions: hours, minutes, seconds, date, as well as chronograph and alarm functionality.
Underneath the sapphire glass, there is a matte black dial with applied silver hour indices and crystal clear Roman numerals (2, 4, 8 and 10). Two chronograph sub-dials are situated at 3 and 9 o’clock positions, whereas the alarm clock counter is placed at the 6 o’clock position. There is also a large date window on the top of the dial, at the 12 o’clock position. The minute markings on the flange nicely round the dial surface.
The new Concord Saratoga Chronograph Black PVD Watch (the referent number is 0320219) comes with a black PVD-treated stainless steel bracelet with glistening steel links throughout. This combination results in greater suppleness and provides the best comfort for the wearer. The shining bracelet ends with a deployment buckle with pushers.
