At Baselworld 2013, Certina marked the 125th anniversary of the brand. For this occasion, the Swiss manufacturer presented some limited edition anniversary models, as well as some classic-looking timepieces, such as the new DS Podium Square. This newcomer, like many square wristwatches, stands halfway between sport and elegance.

Certina DS Podium Square Watch
Certina DS Podium Square Watch is housed in a subtle-rounded square case crafted from 316L fully-polished stainless steel. The case is domed with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating. The new watch is equipped with the Certina’s DS Concept and provides water resistance up to the pressure of 100 meters (circa 330 feet).
Underneath the front sapphire glass lies a white dial with stylish Roman numerals. The gently rounded hour and minute hands are treated with white Superluminova for improved visibility under low light conditions. The central part of the dial is nicely finished with the beautiful sunray pattern that catches the eye at first glance.

The right date is available through the date display which is located at the 6 o’clock position. On a raised rim around the dial, you will notice round dots which are also treated with luminous substance. They mark the hours in night-time visibility and make a seducing visual effect.
DS Podium Square is teamed with the comfortable black leather strap which is secured to the wearer’s wrist with a sporty butterfly buckle with twin push-buttons. As it is reported by Certina, other models and versions of DS Podium Square timepiece are also available.
This newcomer is yet another timepiece that brings us back to the past. If you are seeking for a classic-looking and affordable timepiece, then this square-sized Certina can be a perfect solution. It is equally appropriate for business wear, as well as for some more casual situations.
