This year, at the international Baselworld watch fair, Certina marked its 125th Anniversary. The jubilee is accompanied with a dramatic shift in company colors from red to green, with a new logo and with amazing brand’s novelties. The first new model that I will introduce to you is DS Eagle Chronograph Watch that is designed for all watch aficionados with a taste for the unique and different.
The new sporty Certina timepiece has some appealing design features. With a broad face and solid, screwed bezel with gorgeous carbon-fiber details, the chronograph is well prepared for any extreme situation, from sport to everyday life. Further, its 24h GMT second time-zone will help you to keep your work and travel agenda in a perfect time.
The watch is housed in a satinised and polished stainless steel case with the diameter of 46mm. The large-sized case can be coated either with black PVD or with a mixture of black and rose gold PVD coating. The racing-inspired semi-circular carbon inserts on its screwed-on bezel give the contemporary character, while a textured screw-fastened black rubber strap and red-trimmed push-buttons bring sporty charm to the watch. I must say that red rings around the pushers are very interesting design details that match perfectly with some dial details.
The new Certina DS Eagle Chronograph is equipped with the Swiss assembled ETA G10.961 quartz chronograph movement that provides the usual set of functions (hours, minutes and seconds) as well as a date, a chronograph and a second time zone with a 24-hour display.
The watch’s case is coated on both sides with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating. The water resistance of the case is assured down to amazing 200 meters (660 feet).
Underneath the sapphire glass lies a very sport dial with three bold sub-dials. Thanks to the clever contrasts of red and white against black, the 12-hour, 60-minute and 60-seconds chronograph stand up clearly against the dial’s textured surface.
The hour and minute hands, as well as sub-dial hands are skeletonized to provide an unobstructed view on dial’s finishes. A large date aperture is situated at the 6 o’clock position. Further, the hour and minute hands, as well as hour markers are filled with Superluminova to enhance legibility.
Letters ‘DS’ are monogrammed on a screw-in crown to highlight the use of the Double Security Concept. The case back of the watch features the turtle logo – a longstanding Certina’s symbol of amazing water resistance, robustness and excellent durability. The new Certina wristwatch is teamed with a black textured rubber strap, ending with a large buckle.
Three different versions are available. The model with the referent number C023.739.27.051.00 is housed in a simple steel case, while two variants feature cases coated with PVD: the all black PVD coated version comes with the reference C023.739.17.051.00, while the black/rose gold PVD one has the referent number C023.739.37.051.00.
