Celebrating a company’s anniversary is a big deal, and celebrating 125th Anniversary is much bigger. This year, Certina has marked the 125th jubilee by launching their new green corporate identity, as well as several new timepieces. One of them is DS-1 Automatic 125th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch that pays homage to tradition in quite modern way.
The DS-1 Automatic 125th Anniversary Limited Edition watch is issued as a duo package with one each gents/ladies units in only 1888 specimens and it will be sold exclusively as a duo-package. Both models are housed in classic-looking round cases crafted from 316L stainless steel. As it is expected, the ladies’ case is a little bit smaller to fit an average size of a woman’s wrist. The men’s model sizes 39mm in diameter, while the women’s measures only 30mm.
The case of the DS-1 Automatic 125th Anniversary watch reminds of the cases of DS 1 timepieces from 1960s. This retro flavor is equally visible on a silver-shaded sunray dial surface. The design is enhanced and reinforced by a contrasting anthracite-colored ring that perfectly rounds the dial surface. This ring marks seconds which are shown by a black central second hand. The hour and minute hands and rectangular hour markers are filled with Superluminova to provide clear and precise time reading in all kinds of lighting conditions.
The watch’s case is protected on both sides with rounded sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating. Through the transparent case back, you can admire the nicely crafted automatic movement.
The new watch is tooled with Certina’s Double Security concept that protects the movement against all negative external influences, such as pressure, temperature, moisture, shock and dust. The DC Concept provides water resistance up to the pressure of 100 meters. The watch’s crown is monogrammed with the former ‘double-C’ logo on the tip to remind about the brand’s history.
Both watches are teamed with elegant and amazingly finished brushed and polished five-row stainless-steel bracelets. The men’s version is fastened by a folding safety buckle, while the ladies’ model ends with a twin push-button butterfly buckle.
