Celebrating the 80th birthday of Jack Heuer, the renowned Swiss watchmaker prepared a Limited Edition of Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday watch (Ref. CV2119) that is going to be revealed at the upcoming Baselworld 2012. Carrera is a logical choice for this commemorative edition, since the brand’s icon, Jack Heuer, launched this best-selling model in TAG Heuer’s range, back in 1964. Beside the fact that the watch is not the re-edition of the historic Heuer Carrera from the 1960s, it features many vintage elements, such as the red “Heuer” logo on the dial.
The Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday Limited Edition watch is distinctive by the traditional chronograph lay-out which was used on the original model from 1964. Dark grey sub-dials with nice radial patterns (another vintage element) make a beautiful contrast with a silver sun-burst dial.
Polished, applied hour-markers are nicely visible on the clear pattern which is surrounded with the tachymeter scale at the dark gray outer rim. Red details on the dial (a central chronograph hand, red tips on sub-dial hands and a red “80″ on the tachy scale) look really great.
The case of the Carrera Jack Heuer has the same diameter of 41mm as the Carrera 1887 and the last year’s Carrera Heritage Chronograph. It is made of beautifully polished stainless steel and incorporates push buttons with a new remarkable style. The back side of the case with the engraved family crest is highlighted with Jack Heuer’s signature. The watch is available either with a stylish black calf strap with a red soft rubber lining, or with a standard stainless steel bracelet that nicely combines brushed and polished finishes and it has solid water-resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet).
The Carrera Jack Heuer 80th Birthday Limited Edition watch is powered by a Calibre 17 (ETA 2894-2) self-winding movement which is a perfect mechanism for this particular arrangement of chrono counters. This great edition is limited to 3000 pieces and the estimated price for the new Carrera goes around $4900.
