Stunning Histoire de Tourbillon 3 watch that will be officially presented at Baselworld 2012 offers extremely rare visual spectacle, showing three tourbillons through its oversized rectangular face. The new Harry Winston’s masterpiece is surly going to amaze even the pickiest connoisseurs of haute horology, but just 20 of them will get a chance to discover all the beauty that this horological high end possesses.
The double tourbillon of Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 3 is a bi-axial mechanism that stands at the left side of the case which is usually called the 9 o’clock position. Its inner case rotates once each 40 seconds, while the outer tourbillon completes rotation each 120 seconds. The third, separated tourbillon at the 6 o’clock position makes one revolution each 36 seconds. It must be extremely exiting to watch how these complications operate together in order to keep great accuracy.
Since the Complitime, the sister company of Greubel Forsey which develops movements for other brands, has already made mechanisms for the first two Histoire de Tourbillon timepieces, it is most likely that it also made the movement for the Histoire de Tourbillon 3. However, that is not officially confirmed.
Precious Stones as the Power-Reserve Indicator
What we surly know is that it is a remarkable hand-winding mechanism with 479 components and a hand polished chamfers decoration. It provides 50 hours of power reserve which is displayed on the dial in a super interesting and original way. The power reserve indicator shows energy level by using the scale lined with 11 sapphires and 6 citrines. With the loss of power, sapphires go from dark to light colored, and at the end, the orange citrines indicates that the watch needs to be rewound.
The case of the Histoire de Tourbillon 3 watch is even more robust than the previous two versions, being 65 mm wide and 45.9 mm tall. It is built of over 70 parts, in polished and satin-brushed 18k white gold, with Harry Winston’s own proprietary Zalium alloy metal case band.
Two circular satin-brushed discs that stand on a black opaline surface which provides a nice depth of dial count time in hours and minutes. Seconds can be read via a small seconds disc on the bi-axial tourbillon. This unique piece of art comes with a hand-sewn black alligator leather strap, with a double-pin buckle, made of polished 18K white gold. Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 3 will be launched in the limited series of 20 pieces that will certainly achieve the record price for this luxury collection.
