At Baselworld 2012 watch event, Breguet presented the latest member to its emblematic “Tradition” collection, the new Breguet Tradition 7047BR Tourbillon Fusee in 18-karat rose gold. This year’s novelty joins the existing models in yellow gold and platinum.
This “Grande Complication” watch is inspired by the legendary “souscription” timepieces created by Abraham-Louis Breguet and it symbolizes both a return to roots and a resolutely forward-looking brand vision.
The latest Breguet’s masterpiece features a tourbillon, fusee and chain transmission situated on the upper part of the mainplate, as well as a silicon balance spring which has become traditional for all the watches from this collection. The Breguet balance spring in silicon has a number of advantages. They are lighter metal analogues and they are extremely resistant to corrosion, magnetic fields, gravity, shock…
The fusee mechanisms preserve outstanding precision. Equipped with a chain transmission, the mechanism compensates for the weakening of the plant springs and maintains optimum torque at a continuing level during the whole of the period of reserve.
The Tradition 7047 Fusee Tourbillon is powered by the Caliber 569 mechanical movement which provides full 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound. It comes with power-reserve indication on the barrel drum. The hand-wound movement with tourbillon is built on 43 jewels and oscillates at the speed of just 18,800 vibrations per hour. The mechanism is assembled and decorated by hand and adjusted in six positions.
The newest addition to the Breguet’s Tradition collection is housed in a round 41 mm case crafted from an 18-karat rose gold. It has rounded lugs welded to the case and crew-secured spring-bars. The case is protected with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and it comes with a transparent case back. The water-resistance of the case is assured down to 30 meters (100 feet).
The most eye-catching is the dial of this “Grande Complication” timepiece. Its black-coated engine-turned 18-karat gold dial is decentralized and located at the 7 o’clock position. The guilloche dial surface perfectly contrasts with hour scale and Breguet-type central hands. Roman numerals as hour markers add a true retro touch. The most elegant watch complication – the tourbillion is situated on the primary disk, at the 1 o’clock position.
Finally, the Tradition 7047 Fusee Tourbillon comes with an elegant brown alligator leather strap.
