A relatively new Swiss watchmaker, Blacksand Geneve, introduced its new Blacksand Stratographe chronograph timepiece at the Baselworld 2012. This newcomer symbolizes a new era for the Geneva-based brand because it is among the first models that will receive the new caliber 2002 hand-wound movement that has been entirely designed, developed and assembled in-house.
The new Blacksand Stratographe watch boasts a number of elements crafted from scratch-resistant ceramic. According to the manufacturer, the new single-pusher chronograph will be available in a couple of versions, including a satin-finished titanium model and a version with a titanium body mixed with polished 18-karat white or rose gold. There is also a choice between a model with a tachymeter scale for speed funs and a pulsometer version with a scale for measuring heart rates.
This Blacksand’s novelty comes in a masculine round case with the diameter of 46 mm. The elements of its large-sized case are interchangeable, so I guess that you can personally choose your unique timepiece by combining different parts.
A Blend of Tradition and Modernity
As I have already mentioned, the new Stratographe is equipped with the first movement entirely developed by the Blacksand Geneve. The hand-wound column-wheel chronograph movement built on 26 jewels oscillates at the rapid frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides full 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The mechanism is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back.
Its modern dial with black, grey and purple elements draws the gaze with a unique style. The dial comprises two sub-dials and luminous hands which are visible even in the deep darkness. A 30-minute chronograph counter is situated at the 3 o’clock position, while on the opposite side, at the 9 o’clock position, there is a small seconds sub-dial. A small purple date window is located at the 6 o’clock position.
Depending on a model, the Stratographe wristwatch comes with either a tachymeter scale for measuring units per hour or a pulsometer scale for keeping track of intense emotions.
For the wristlet, you can also choose between a black and a grey alligator leather strap with matt or shiny finish and purple lining. The strap is secured to the wearer’s wrist with a folding clasp in titanium, rose or white gold.
The young watch company Blacksand Geneve has been around for about two years. Founded by a demanding collector, the Swiss watchmaker presents models crafted in harmony with the finest Swiss watchmaking traditions, yet dedicated to serving the needs of a clientele accustomed to refined modern urban living.
